I am not pissed about the name I have, in fact I love my name. I don't like that people disrespect it. but thanks for the heartfelt advice. |

Amen, Avana.
Nevada is also easily ruined. I hate having to refer to it also being a state to get people to understand how to pronounce and/or spell it (I wasn't named after the place, but rather for the spanish word meaning pure and white as snow.), however, that's usually what it comes down to. In high school I shortened it to Nev because that was easier to say and spell to new people and parents. Even then it ended up being a matter of "like Neve Campbell, but without the e on the end." Ugh. |

Becuase im not offended when my friends write my name as "Rhia" on an important piece of paper instead of Rhiannon :/
Rhia is NOT short for Rhiannon like Mike is to Micheal, Bill is to William or Dick to Richard. I made Rhia up... its not in the celtic book of names! Anyways back to the prime topic... Both of my names have had many 'unusual' coments. Although I will admit I sometimes get the "thats a beutiful name" comment after to sweeten it up. When I was young I hated having such a strang name, but now I grown to like haveing a unique name and being diffrent. Last edited by Ree Fresh; Oct 02, 06 at 05:50 PM. |

So if you made up Rhia, what's your real name? I can see that you probably avoided posting it on purpose, but I'm just curious. edit: nevermind, I get it now. Wow, I need more sleep. Last edited by prozac; Oct 02, 06 at 06:13 PM. |

I just don't like to hear that my name sounds trashy the way it is supposed to be. *ahem*jim*ahem* And I used to pretend my name was Sarah when I was a little girl. Now I wouldn't change my name for the life of me.....well maybe my last name. |

^I edited my first post, apparently at the same time you were posting that.
I misunderstood, thinking she was saying Rhia was not short for Rhiannon, therefore indicating her name was not in fact Rhiannon but something else. Clearly I need to start paying more attention. :) Last edited by prozac; Oct 02, 06 at 06:19 PM. |

In some ways I guess I brought it on my self. Rhia was more of my stage name or user name and its great in the scene when you have to introduce yourself, but dont want to use full on name. I dont mind friends calling me Rhia... guess its not as bad as everyone calling Adrinene 'daisy' forever. However when you call me Rhiannon it has a much more personal touch. Dont worry, Im more worried about the bf's family calling me Rhia other than Rhiannon. It just takes time Avana (as in Hanah ;)) Last edited by Ree Fresh; Oct 02, 06 at 06:46 PM. |
