Everyone assumes that my name Arika is pronounced with some sort of accent althought it is pronounced the same way as erica, which I always make sure to mention. Who in their right mind would name their kid arreeka! It is very unusual to hear my name pronounced right even thought it isnt that hard

Naming your kids for a popular dead relative is generally a bad idea. I'm hoping that names cycle like fashion , and one day before I die it will be cool.

I don't think Avana is that different of a name at all. Actually I must have met like 2 other Avana's through my years. Much better than being named something so common such as Jennifer *barf*...i hate my name. I once met this girl on the bus and her name was Memory...THAT is a different name. When she told me she was from Saltspring it all made sense.
