My parents were immigrants, poor as fuck, couldnt speak english, lived in squalor and literally sold themselves to provide something for me, and my bro and sis. Countless contemporary studies show that a large percentage of the immigrant labour pool currently in Canada have a considerable amount of education and experience but through racist and subversive immigrant enticement and policies many new immigrants face the reality that despite being doctors, professors, scientists, teachers or even scholars, their employment future usually results in a mop or a security jacket. This reality has very little do with the language barrier and much more to do with systemic racism.
