House broken into :(
Well actually it's my apartment that was broken into on Friday -- they took the security cameras from the lobby and crowbared my front door
and all my valuables are gone - my stuff thrown all over the place they tool my computer, dvd player, dvds, cds, my grandma jewlery, phone, answering machine, leather jackets, and a shitload of other things I have no insurance - so I am S.O.L on getting anything back and I'm not a millionaire so I will be without a computer for a while So that's why I'm not on MSN - you'll have to phone me at home and if you've ever been to my place and you see any of my stuff around town - kindly knock the person out and bring them to me so I can rip their head off I'm ridiculously sad about this - I don't feel safe in my place -- I'm so angry at myself for not having insurance and so pissed off about the things that were taken that I can't replace like the pearls my Mom gave me for my sweet 16, that her mom gave to her anyhoos Get insurance people and if you see anyone wandering around w/ my stuff - shoot first - questions later |

I agree with Veni... that really does suck.
It TOTALLY pays to have renters insurance. It's always a good idea. I mean, it isn't going to replace the invaluable items but certainly will help with situations like this. Everyone learn from this example and if you are renting, get renters insurance! |

Sorry to heard about the bad luck Maryah.
As for insurance, it is one of those things that people always question needing until a situation like this happens. I personally have too much crap to lose that I couldn't ever afford to replace all of it if it got stolen. Buy the insurance and make sure you have adequate coverage. When I renewed my policy I shopped around and found out that I was undercovered for my dwelling and that could have actually nullified my coverage in time of a claim. |

which makes me especially uncomfortable cause that means it was likely someone I have had contact with -- and I can not for the life of me imagine anyone I know ever doing anything like this -- but it could have just been unfortunate luck that it was only me and I live across from the Lougheed Mall skytrain station - just barely Burnaby |

omg jingles!! that's horrible!!! =( I feel so bad for you....
:finger: :soak: damn thieves!!! stop stealing all our shit!! I've heard of 2 break ins and 3 cars being stolen (including mine) in the past 2 months in bc from just people I know on online message boards... it's disgusting. |

OMG Maryah, that's absolutely terrible! I'm so sorry that you've been placed in this horrible situation and that you have to suffer from someone elses greed. I hope that you can recover from it swiftly and relatively painlessly...or else just catch the fucker who did this! Seriously though...the majority of breakins, especially apartment breakins, are done by those who know you. It's sad...but true (at least from what I've seen w/my friends' apartments). Especially if you were the only one who was targeted.
Good luck girl, it'll get better. =) *Jen* |

I feel for ya sista, I live a few blocks away and we also got robbed back in January. We lost our computer, turntables, mixer, guitar and a whole bunch of sentimental shit from familly and friends. What confuses me most is that they took my alarm clock, it was like a $10 piece of crap and they stole it. Meanwhile they only stole 1 out of our 4 VCRs. Who leaves 3 VCRs behind but steals an alarm clock? Miraculously the police actually recovered 1 of my turntables but the rest is long gone. I'd suggest going to any pawn shops near by and if any of your shit is there, call the popo and they get it back for you. You should come to the Village Pub tonight and drown your sorrows in booze!

^^ yeah
I hear ya on the strange stuff they took my phone and answering machine an answering machine -- like you can't get money for that and yes Sue all the DvDs including Fubar - although they left the case behind to torment me and my booze my beautiful liquor collection and the cold beer in the fridge heartless bastards |
|

THEY EVEN TOOK THE ALCOHOL?!!
What I want to know is how come no one heard any strange noises and came to investigate?? They must have been in there for a good chunk of time and nobody noticed?! That sucks Maryah:(. Sorry to hear about your bad luck. boo to those stupid thieves!! -desi |

that's crazy, and that is so terrible to hear :(
I'm sorry that this had to happen to you.. but it's nice to know that nothing happened to YOU, in a physical sense... even if they stole the security camera, security should have a video recording of them stealing the camrea shoudn't they? Security cameras only catch the action, but I'm sure the action gets recorded somewhere... perhaps you can find out? |

Holy crap Maryah, sorry to hear about this.
I can't belive they took your beer! The least they could have done was leave you with that. Its hard to look on a positive note, but by the means they entered the building it was a good thing you weren't home or it could have been even worse? How many people in your complex got hit? That really sucks hun, I wish I had oodles of money so I could help ya out. Sadly, the best I could do is spruce for some mudd pie and beer. :) Also, with your computer concerns, I have an old laptop your welcome to use if you like. Its old skool, like a Pentium 133, but it would do the trick for email/msn/posting needs. Its availablle if ya need it. Next Bourbon venture you *ARE* getting blitzed, no exceptions.
