K Pryde, had we met 2 years ago I'd get into an arguement with you defending underground to the death because I was just that convinced that the music was more "real."
Now that I've had the opportunity to listen to a great deal of underground artists as well as mainstream ones I've come to the conclusion that it depends on the artist. I mean there is that stereotype associated with mainstream, and if you listen to the top 40 or check out the radio they'll justify those stereotypes that much more. I find that a lot of the artists that do get a lot of hype like to focus on more general subjects and themes, because these themes can be directed at a more broad audience. I'm not saying that there's something wrong with that but it really depends on what you as a listener are looking for in the music... are you looking for substance, good beats, depth, or just whatever is the "in" song right now? I personally prefer more depth in the music I listen to but I don't limit this to "underground" and "mainstream" because 2pac was mainstream and he is still to this day one of my absolute favorite artists. However, I do find that I have an easier time finding substance in what one would classify as an underground artist or track. Artist like Aesop Rock, Buck 65, Sage Francis, Murs and Grouch have never failed to impress me with their strong lyrical content. Anyways, fuck labels, they hardly determine anything. |

well the way i look at it...
some of the rapers have people who write song for them so its really the song writers that produce it all about how you take the song and if it means something to you alot of songs mean something to the lyric. if u got beat thats good also... i like surtin music b/c it makes me move :kam: but if you really listen it takes fold and thats why u should listen to what make sence to you or you could look at it how k-pryde sees things.. sounds is awsome :c-tard: |

as for what listeners look for in music is always gonna be a topic to talk about because i have a theory that nobody can possibly have the same thing they look for in music as anybody else. its what makes people more unique, more deep, more shallow its all about how deep in the ocean of music you've ventured into. hahaha just a side note i can't help but quote a redman lyric from his muddy waters album (awesome cd) "how ugly do you have to be to be the dopest mc?" i wont bother analysing it you can all think about that quote yourselves... i'm glad i didn't meet you 2 years ago after reading what you have said here. The conversation would not of been long anyways because i've had this argument for years on and adding another person to the oppostion would of just been a waste of time for me =) but i'm glad you have buried that ignorant aspect and ventured into what society has deemed popular and elite and have come up with a view that was obviously built from widom and willingness to explore. i have new found respect for ya. keep it up girl |

Wow! This thread's been going quite strong since its initial silliness. Dammit! I knew I shouldn't have attempted to make it semi-serious. :kam:
That being said, allow me to introduce my personal favorite MC; an individual who has somehow managed to surf the waves of mainstream success yet also keep things underground through amazing collaborations in the past. Yes, that's right! I'm talking about none other than the funkiest of the homo-sapiens: D.E.L. :smoke1: |

When Redman is droppin off songs Like "Dirty" which sparked aguileras new image like it or not and adds a pizaz of his own to the song hes a classic Da Rockwilder is still one of the titest tracks thats when they really shined, but from then there was some alright chemistry but there best chemistry together is when there apart for a bit (And Redman shines) pushing the chemistry back together for a solid album as long as there is some time between them dishing out songs His album, "Malpractice" had tite songs especially the one with icarus n the cd was more solid because i Think method man barley even made a appearance to voice on any tracks only one i remeber him on is Enjoy the ride and that didnt even have jus' method n red it had Saukrates, and Streetlife) "Blackout" featuring both the next album was pretty good but was more feelin the different Chemistry im sure you agree.. N as for readin of my post yea i cant even read over it again its pretty long :P, read it when you got time peace.. |

Yeah,
Its pretty short on CD so makes it easily enjoyable to repeat the song :) haha otherwise, on The video itself that Gap Commerical impression made up for the shortness i couldnt and still cant get enough of that :kam: "So High, so high that i can touch the sky, so sick, so sick that you can suck my D*ck*" Stank butt jeans.. busts into the next verse shiet... |
