my girlfriend has really bad eczema, her dermatologist gave her some kind of steroid cream that really seems to help. You should look into that.

i've got a pretty severe case of psoriasis, which is similar to eczema. and i agree, "it's a bitch".

i've been using different creams and going for UVB light treatments for a while now, but i've still got it.

i'm starting 2 weeks of all-day treatment at 7am tomorrow morning; after that i should be all cleared up. this won't be a 'cure', it just puts it into remission

whats the diff between eczema and psoriasis?

i hate how the doc treats it like "no big deal".. when yea.. it looks really bad. i have it on my wrist on one arm and elbow on the ather.. sometimes on belly, back of my neck, and my shin. ppl look at me funny... i dont like it.

i heard tanning works.. and ive been a regular at the tanning place.. not doin anything at all.

i've heard many people say that using tanning beds helped clear-up their skin condition, tho that doesn't mean it'll work for everyone. you should ask your dermatologist about getting UVB treatments. i assume it'll help with eczema like it does for psoriasis. but don't take my word on it, i'm not a doctor i just play one on tv.

i know whut you mean about the doctor acting like it's not a big deal. sure it's not a 'sit-down-i-have-to-tell-you-something' kind of condition, but it is a serious issue.

it won't kill you but it can fuck with you in more ways than you think. diminishing social life, mild depression and a lack of self esteem are just some repercussions of skin disorders.

as far as the dif between eczema and psoriasis - i really don't know. tho i can ask the doctor tomorrow when i go to the clinic for my second day of all-day treatments.

i had it on my wrist for awhile...i think it was from my body lotion, perfume and bracelets

my dermatologist gave me topicort, and i stopped wearing so many bracelets and it's gone now!

i duno if tanning would work... tanning makes my skin dry, and i couldn't imagine that helping your eczema out?

try cleaning your sheets and clothing more often, using less or changing the products you use, wearing loosre clothing round wherever you're getting eczema, not wearing jewelry
and watch what you eat, some foods can cause eczema for some people supposedly..good luck, ihate my skin too

I wouldn't be surprised if these problems are casues by food allergies and lack of essential fatty acids in the diet. Go see a naturopath and get some food allergy testing done and then see a homeopath. They will actualy cure it, instead of prescribing nasty drugs that just hide the problem instead of fixing it.
No one listens to me though, so...=S

my doctor told me that my diet was good.

i just have really sensitive skin and it doesn't like laundry detergent, or the elastic in my bra or any weird soaps and stuff

Tanning doesn't help skin it hurts it!
burning off the problem really isn't a good solution and that's pretty much what tanning does

i had Eczcema on the bottoms of my feet - switched to cotton, un dyed socks and used a lot of Polysporin and I found that helped alot... cause cracked foot soles are painful! Cotozone didn't help me much - polysporin was the way for me, along with Penatin (sp?) diaper cream
Granted this was all back in the early 90s and there may be many other better methods now. i was lucky enough to 'grow out' of mine

psoriosis happens when keratinocytes (a type of epidermal cell) are shed too prematurely, making abnormal keratin (a fibrous protein that protects your skin and tissues from crap) so you see flaky, red or silvery scales. the reason why people diagnosed with psoriasis are given UV treatments is because this is supposed to help inhibit the growth of keratinocytes. because that would not be the problem with eczema, I highly doubt UV treatments would help.

with eczema, it's actually a group of skin disorders with varying severities and different causes, but I think it's basically characterized by dry, itchy skin...

there's currently no cure right now for eczema, and I wouldn't go so far as to say that all eczema is caused by allergins or diet. I think eczema is too diverse to have just one cause.

That sounds vague. I am talking about blood testing in which they add foods to your sample and see how it reacts, then give you a chart, telling you what you are allergic too and how severely.

Laundry detergent? that one is easy. Go buy some all natural stuff.

Weird soaps? www.drbronners.com you can get it at any health food store. Cheap, all natural and lasts forever. Plus the labels are fun to read in the shower.

Remember, it is in a doctor's best interest to keep you sick. That way you keep coming back, and they keep making money. Same goes for drug companies.
