I used trust my girlfriends (now ex-girlfriends) with all my heart until I found out that my trust had been turned into something that was just being used by them for a personal advantage. Now I don't trust anyone until they've proven to me that I can be trusting to them.

I was brought up the same way as you. I don't exactly like to be taken advantage of either, but I don't think it's totally right that I should have to change for anyone else. It's their problem and their Karma (though I dont really believe as such, it's only inevitable if they hang around with that type of crowd).

I am more selective about who I trust now and I try not to waste too much of my energy.

yeah.. oh wow. Well my being too trusting really f*ckin kicked me in the teeth and bit me in the ass today!! :256:
2 out of 3 roommates skipped town today, and they neglected to pay anything towards rent. The landlord was being very understanding with us taking so long to pay, cuz as far as I/we knew my roomies would be getting EI checks yesterday or today. This whole situation has left me feeling sour, distrusting and severely used. :yucky:
