man this thread brings me back..
even not too long ago in this city there was a punk show every weekend just about (seylynn hall saturday nights <3) with tons of great local bands.. then everyone started making albums that sounded more "technical" and everyone coming to shows started looking like spock :( |

YES!! (and the English ones!)...but the Canadian Subhumans have been around longer...ohhh yesss... The S.T.R.E.E.T.S (also local)...not so sure id classify it as punk.. more so Thrash.... but.. it's just freakin' sick. Thrash...how i love thee. Last edited by Rayeine; Jan 11, 07 at 12:28 PM. |

My opinion/take on that if you're using dittohead as example, would probably be thrash metal. Other than that, even with some of Slayer's covers, they definately put a thrash metal spin on it. I'd say: Sex Pistols as far as the most legendary, as far as punk bands over past recent'ish years my favs would be The Vandals or Pennywise...NOFX is definately up there as well with their White Trash, Two Heabs and a Bean. Its pretty damn tough for me to just choose one, there are so many different sounds of punk to conform to just picking one over the other; but that's just me.
