The thing is they are bringing in names who arent even names yet. People just think that they are good cause they are from out of town. They are probably just average DJ's in their home town. Pretty sad. I have even seen in some cases the headliners are shown up by a lot of the local DJ's sets.
If you are going to bring out a headliner, bring out a headliner |

I have been. Was at Lee Combs but he did not play as expected. Was at Tony Faline. Left early cause he sucked. Was at Krafty Kuts and he layed it down. :c-tard:
Was at Freestylers and they rocked the house! :PartEkid: Last edited by jiggy1; Nov 27, 02 at 02:44 PM. |

What you said below Nolan is very true and unfortunate.
A very recent example is with Simple VI... It was requested by a TON of you to bring DJ Antoine... I listened and booked him despite his very high price tag because well, that's who you wanted to hear. Now from what I see and hear even on this board, some of those same people that requested him aren't even coming to see him!?! As far as Breaks go... in the new year you are going to start to see a change in that area BUT... bare in mind all the various club events going on. Groovy and his crew are doing a damn fine job bringing in sick talent - I have been to every one... Faline, Krafty Kuts (which was unbelievable) and The Freestylers among others. Having said that, with the plans Groovy has to bring this kind of talent - Stanton Warriors and Freq Nasty that are eventually coming, we will not book them for our parties... It would take away the draw to Groovy's club night and vice versa. Having said that, it makes it a bit of a challenge to find DJ's that other promoters have not booked or plan to book yet! -- And ultimately, that the masses will pay to see in an environment like the Plaza of Nations. A lot of you raise some fair points and I totally respect and read/listen to them all. I would just make sure you understand the big picture first. Peace. Quote:

Kraig by reading your posts, it seems like you have taken over a great deal of Twisted's responsibilities. I am very excited to see DJ Antoine at the next show and props for that. But as for what you said under about stealing Groovy's DJ's is bullshit. I seem to recall Exert being the production company to have brought out Tony Faline to play at all their parties. Grooverobber then brings out Tony Faline to play at Abduction without Exerts consent and that was that. A DJ does not belong to one production company after they have brought that DJ out. If they are looking into bringing out Freq Nasty, he was here a while back and that wasnt by ET Bros. Why would you think that you have to go through them to book a DJ? Thats absurd. Having said that, there are a lot of other acts that you can book who have never been to Vancouver before that you can also look into. You dont need to bring someone who has proven to be a crowd favorite now do you? True it does make it a bit of a challenge finding them but thats all part of the job now isnt it? Why dont you consult with the Pound crew about a good Headlining DJ? They have been bringing out same huge names for the last couple of years. Its all happening out there. Just gotta be in the know.

^^ well what i got out of kraigs post was different.
he wasn't saying that you can't book a dj because another production company has recently had them do one of their shows or something. He was saying that you can't bring out a headliner that someone has booked for a future date! like say someone booked Stanton Warriors (almost wrote stalin there.. ahhh too much history :P) for a club night on Jan. 25 right?? Well it then wouldn't be fair for Twisted to go and book them for lets say new years. Why?? Because they would be taking away from the other production company. If they booked them, and then you book them for a party beforehand. People who want to see them, will go to the event which comes first, and it takes away from the hype of the other persons event. Which isn't fair. If they don't want it done to them, they'll respect others in hope that they don't do it to them. Get it?? anyways, that's what i got from it... not that you can't book someone cause someone else already did previously.. |
