holy shit u guys i am SO down for this.
i have some pretty good skill, and everyone that has heard me play or has heard my demos, love it. and i have yet to play at a big party, or even get paid to play.

i totally support this idea, and i think it should be a regular thing.

Maybe to reduce the pressure it could be a low-key event once a week or once a month. Not a big event once every year or two. The night could rotate to different places that specialize in different types of music.

^thats a really good idea, i totally think you guys should do it. for one, it would be really fun, two, you'd get your name out, and people would know you, and you get to meet lots of new people.

one last thing: when are these nights going to be? --for the different genres?
i think that if it becomes a weekly or monthly thing, the different nights for different genres should switch up. like week 1:jungle thursdays, house fridays, then week 2: jungle saturdays, house thursdays. that kinda thing.. :)

Sign me up! I'll spin anything, but breaks and turntablism would be a good anything.

Judging should be focused like so:

(cronilogically in importance, A most important to D of least importance)

Mixing:

A. Length and how clean the mixes are (tight beatmatching, spot for trainwrecks and minor slips alike)
B. How fast it takes the dj to get the mix going
C.How well the tracks complement each other
D. Showmanship

Turntablism:
A. Accuracy
B. Variation of types of scratching (strickly babying, transforming, etc. should be frowned upon)
C. Originality (coincides with B, but not always)
D. Showmanship

Dispatch PMs when you're gonna do this, sounds like it's gonna be good times.
