Once again you obviously know nothing about Metallica. Hetfield plays solos too. And even when playing rythms its more then just chords. Playing Battery is kinda tough to get the picking right, I can't imagine singing over it as well. He's considered one of the best rythm players and frontmen in metal history.

St Anger is was awesome says nuff, but hey thats just an opinion.
