Expect to hear more about my record mixing career in the next year, for the time being I'm just in love with music and record collecting.
I firstly fell in love with the sound of [atmospheric, tech-steppin', and a lil' of old school] jungle. But I first wanted to become a dj, represent the break.beat-happy hardcore massiv, and and just play the cheese. But that never happened. So I decided to buy jungle and bjork records, my first love. I also own some downtempo, big ups to the Vancouver Upstairs and Seattle's Mother Recordings for that. And then I discovered experimental-escque tech-house-ish, ambient stuff, that just pushes my knob. And always that avante-garde(pop/alternative) crap which are pretty much remixes of beautiful artists like bjork and thom yorke. ANd I'm going to start collecting early experimental electronic orchestrated music, but so far I only know of them on cd. I spin hip hop, breaks and jungle.
I guess I was inspired by my boss Elliott when I was working for hot wax dj's as an inspirational dancer (we taught kids dances at birthday parties, school dances, etc). I just loved to see the crowd moving to the music. So then I took up CD-DJing at school dances, house parties, etc. Eventually my brother and I bought decks and while he continued to spin school dance stuff, I got more into the party scene and starting spinning breaks and jungle. I was first REALLY inspired at Abduction 2000 by Tony Faline and Hudia Hudia. They threw down a dope set. Then about two months later I spun at this barn party in Aldergrove. I was pretty rusty and nervous 'cause I had never spun on decks infront of people. I didn't do too well but after my set, Illesha came up to me and we talked and she told me to keep working at it, and that I could be really good one day. She's pretty much the reason I didn't give up. Yea =0) |

The time is near........
Myself, I spin a full spectrum of: deep trance to tribal funk. Techno(funky, minimal, tribal, rolling) Trance(Dutch,German,t,UK,tek) House(funky,US,deep, tribal, tek) Breaks(UK trance, funky) I have a little D&B(atmospheric, rolling, tribal) I am also sarting to experiment with ambience.
My influences are: Ben-13 aka 13 moons to peace, martin holloway, Primordial Nature(dj noah bouddit), gary paul, jeremy oliver, max graham, Bad Religion, The misfits. These inspirations formed the matrix. They say there comes a time in every ones life, that they will come to choose their faith, and I chose music and dance. " He stood, eyes closed, looking over the sea of flowers.......and one word came to mind: Destiny" At a time where conciousness is expanding at an incredible rate, only one path can lead to the light! I noticed people are going into depth about dj'ing, however I don't quite have the time at this exact moment. I will say, that I am going to school next semester for music engineering. Anyways, I gotta run...so I'll write more in depth later. :034:

I absoulotley love tech house.
Basically a 9min song of beats you can fuck around with both decks and the mixer and it goes incredibly good to progressive trance and uplifting trance. As for time for spinning, I make time for it.... Cancel plans for it. skip work for it. miss parties for it :) - SoniK |

I have never treat a female dj any diffrent then a treat a guy dj. Stop making excuses, and go out there and kick some ass. Let me guess, the reason you didn't get promoted at your last job is cause you were a girl? |

Sir K said, There are a lack of dj's that are female
You said it's cause it's male dominated I said your just making excuses. _____________________ You think you get shit? Try playing happy hardcore, then come to me. Let me see.... threats over mics, getting yelled at, having entire threads dedicated to the hatred of you? Sorry if I was blunt, I still stand by what I said, although I sugar coated it for you. Face the fact, you can't blame shit all on the fact that your a "girl dj" |
