I myself for one, and a few of my friends have been doing freelance engineering here and in Sweden. I've worked with many artists who wouldn't know the first two things about recording/arranging. does this mean that they suck, and are ripping people off? no. do you think Bill Gates still walks into Microsoft every day and starts coding? shit! I bet you could find a 15 year old now a days that has twice the computer knowledge he has. but that don't matter, cause once you make it, you make it. end of story. |

everyone has sick tunes in their heads, and having someone else making them is making it a reality. It's great and it's not as easy as you may think. you can't just walk into a studio and go "no no no... play it like doot doot DI doot doot not doot doot doot doot.." Electronic music rides hand in hand with technology. you can't expect someone to rule it for too long, cause like I said, after a while you'll realize that a 15 year old can do more on his PC in 5 minutes than what you do in your studio for days. This same concept applies, and is why people like me have jobs. a producer doesn't want to waste too much of his time turning knobs when he can be making money. hiring engineers is a totally smart investment. i don't find it cheating at all. It's not forbidden. anyone can do it. if you think you have better tunes that'd make instant hits if you had someone make them, then maybe you should get on it. because these people did. :) |

I envy producers that make all their stuff...
I know a few guys my age in Germany, do everything from recording their own samples, merging two synthetic drum samles, sequencing, arranging, mastering, EVERYTHING.. and that is respect in the making. One is better at mastering, but the other is good at making synths on his hardware... now thats a real team. Guess what, now they have tracks under Scot Projects and Dj Wag's label... I only support people who do that. Freestylers also do that... Pendulum has one studio tech working for the two djs, but its all shared effort, unlike tiesto, he sends them a chunk of a melody in midi with a write up of how he wants his synth to sound. And the rest is to them to use the samples that Tiesto left them from 5 years ago when he USED to make his own shit... |

Ok,
so you're getting torn apart and you start coming after a dj that know's his shit about trance. Are you a fucking idiot? Obviously.. Nonetheless, I will still back myself up. Quote:
Well, when i was playing at apex.. I had all good reviews When I played 12 more parties that year.. i had all good reviews.. Playing techno, playing trance, hell i even played dnb. All good reviews. Then at trancemission.. I played an amazing hard trance set.. Good reviews. Then at freeze i played a techno set to no one. What do your friends know? They go to parties to make out with etarded girls. I think i'll go with the comments that REAL dj's give me and also partiers that actually know what a trance melody is made of. Thanks tard. (im not saying im the lord of the trance.. but im one of the few that remained playing trance even when it washed away in mid 2000.. But ofcourse, you started partying just a few months ago.. So you dont know what i'm talking about) Last edited by ppcock; Jan 27, 06 at 04:54 AM. |

oh and when you're told by a fantastic producer of techno as a really good techno dj.. That means a lot.
Eddie Santini, producer for the RAW label and truelove. He caught my set at fusion dreams, the only one there but his comments made my night. |

I think Im the only one at work who will sit there going *boom chicka womp boom chicka womp* (and many variations). lol. Speaking of whcih Dab! We still need to work out that one track! As for the rest of this tread. I think everything has been said. Trancer just needs to shut it and take it like a boy! lol EZ! |

HAHA
Marty is a good dj, i cant say hes astronomically insane... but hes got enough skill for the times hes been spinning. The fact that hes trying to keep all his interests in different genres is pretty cool... but unheard of to me. Then seeing people that dont have a clue what theyre talking about bash on a knowledgeable dj... thats funny shit. The reason why people critique his mixes cuase allot of the people heard most of the track...if Marty were to pull an all unreleased set outta his ass...you wouldnt notice the mixing til its over... Human mentality works like this, say you hear two tracks mixing that youve never heard, youll barely notice the obvious fuck ups cuase a) you dont know if its part of the track or b) you dont know if he really did fuck up. Tiesto gets good reviews cuase people remember the main track selection and not the mixing, ive listened to many INSANE djs live sets, none are perfect, ive heard Scot Project trainwreck (not noticably but shit happens) Tiesto trainwrecks all the time, you just have to know the tracks...and since he has new stuff all the time like Armin Van Burren all the time... im not surprised the reviews are good. |

What a sad thread.
I love how everyone on here is a fucking expert. This whole bashing Tiesto was the cool thing to do 2 years ago, the least you guys could do is start bashing Armin and the current so called #1 PvD. Lots of you guys know the score when it comes to your EDM area of expertise, but almost none of you have the slightest clue as to what you're talking about when it comes to the dreaded 'T' word. Tiesto was the man back in 2001 regardless of what anyone says, and his remix of silence goes down as probably the best trance track of all time IMO. Carry on :) |

Hey y'all~ i understand wut all the speculation about being number 1 or 2 DJ in the world is~ but at the same time, what Tiesto has done in the past years, he has taken Elctronica music, DJing, and all that into another level~ if he hasnt done the things and movments, electronica will always be that "rave" music and scene to the ppl that dont listen to elctronica, from the one man DJ concerts, performing at at Disney's Anniversary in Paris, and of coarse, the Globally renowned Olympics, even if the choice of music is not to most ppl's liking, but at the same time, he is a true pioneer of electronica dance music of our time~ 100% Respect there~ anyways Happy Chinese New Years = FNK! =)

and Tiesto is a big example of how a dj took the money instead of doing it for the music. |
