This thread is a sure sign that we will not be hearing the last of Tiesto for a long time, even if he doesn't get the most popular vote in a single British magazine again. No better publicity than contraversy. If people really wanted to see Tijs' star fade, they ought to do the same as everyone did with Oakenfold: simply forget. (Un?)Fortunately, as with many celebrities, especially in the music world, that tends to happen far sooner than later. I can see him going the way of Kiss -producing concerts that are way more style than substance, but getting stuck in a creative rut due to the demands of what his fans expect of him (some could argue it's already happened: "He sounded way better in 2001"). Either that, or going the way of Yanni. ;)
Tijs is a smart business man, though. I'm sure he'll come up with ways to make sure he remains in the public spotlight for a number of years to come. |

Ya he's hype now because as Marty said, he's using similar patches, kits, techniques etc that he's been using for the last 7 years or so, which is evidently boring the hell out of the listener. Its funny that (going back to the Oakenfold comment) he stated "Music is about pushing the boundaries" yet, hypocritically, he is producing safe music as I like to call it which is low risk as far as chances of bombing with the music market's concerned....Tiesto would be indirectly tied to that as well since (as stated by Oakenfold) they converse on a regular basis. Totally sad cause I dug Oakenfold when he did the Radio 1 radio show back in Dec. 96 I think for the Essential Goa selection. Oh well

I'm 22.. but, after the dance mix cd's shit.. I started listening to GOA trance.
The only REAL trance... is GOA trance. Some of the buildups in tracks are just so fucking nuts that it rapes the shit out of any uplifting/gay/anthem trance track. I highly suggest downloading: ECT - Helpless and also ECT - Mr Jolly lives next door (same record, A/b sides.. both tracks are nutty, its on phantasm records). The sound you will hear is the dirtiest goa trance i've ever heard. I needed a change of underpants when I finally got a copy of that record. |

ID&T isn't all about trance..... They host multiple events such as Thunderdome, Sensation Black, Mysterland and a few others that are hard trance / hardstyle / and a touch of hardcore. |
