um, when run made the My Adidas tune it was a) long before there was much music personality association with corporate marketing b) long before corporate america discovered hiphop as a way to "communicate with the youngsters" and c) not paid for in any way by Adidas.
They were just rhyming about their favorite shoes. |

Dude.... I don't see why you have to get uppity and cut people down who aren't agreeing with you!?!?! It's just fucking MUSIC. Listen to it, dance to it, whether it's simple or complex, hugely popular or unknown and underground.... it's all made for the same bloody purpose. If it's not your deal find something that is but don't slag on others for not sharing your tastes! |

"The Music Business, The Entertainment Industry, is one of the most powerful and influential political forces in the world. I'm sorry if you don't see it that way. And many in the Bizness don't. Cultural Imperialism? Believe me it's real. If you've been out there you know it." - Glenn Branca |

Point is, not only is it crippling the music industry (whether you can see it or not), it's a tasteless use of their influence. They could be spreading positive messages, saving the planet, hell.. just promoting 'good will towards all men'. . not putting people behind the wheel of a 2006 SRI. Make sure they give you a free tank of gas before you leave the dealership and throw in some complimentary floor mats. They're cool like that. |

okay where the fuck has this thread gone.
we can all for the most part agree that BEP now makes shitty music, and that fergie is a pant pissing surrey girl. but all this shit about getting self righteous about challenging the status quo can seriously eat a dick. we live in a free society, you have every right to be up in someone's face about what they support, just like if we choose, we have every right to go to starbucks, there would be more wrong with a society that didn't allow for that choice. what is perhaps more offensive than some shitty pop groups overproduced commercialized sound is that people who think they are challenging society's ideals by saying fuck mcdonalds and buying into a counterculture ideology that just makes you a sheep of a different brand. why can't we just trash BEP and how much they suck more without getting into this shit? WHY CAN'T IT BE ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC? |

I don't really think I could define great conversation as arguments that go in circles for pages at a time between two sides that won't budge, especially when I see a lot of juvenile remarks coming from both ends.
We would all just do better banding together in the fact that we mostly agree that BEP suck, and we all have different reasons for hating them. |

I don't see what the point is in complaing about the state of the music industry. It's not going down hill, it is just changing. Like everything else in the world, it changes.
Sure it's sorta fun to comlain about how twisted pop music is. But the truth is I don't think most people(who like good music) listen to any of that garbage for about more than 3 seconds before they change the channel/station. So whats the problem here? People gettin rich? - Get over it! Bad music being made? - Dont listen to it! Your entire existance being saturated by Top 40? -Please, Turn off the radio/tv, Turn on your Ipod. You gotta ask yourselves... Is there still great music being made? Will there allways be great music being made for me to enjoy throughout my entire life? the answers are yes and yes.. Quit bitching about britney spears and the gang. As far as I'm concerned, they don't exist unless you choose to listen to em. |
