If you carefully observe you would notice that there is no "s" in my Username. Also, if you knew anything about Canada you would know that it is a reference to the old Canadian National Anthem and to the notion of Canada forever. The Maple Leafs suck and I tell people here in Toronto that all the time. So here's a tip for the day... Use both eyes. |

something that is part of popular culture does not and should not necessarily define what western/north american culture is, though. I would not deny it is part of our culture, but to say it is a defining piece in cultural identity is really far off. |

Man, you just lost so much cred quoting fight club (aka a commercialized hollywood production that made millions and entrenched this annoying 'mcfight the status quo' ideology into many, many young men's brains) :P Seriously, any fight club reference should be like invoking godwin's law. |

Just because your favourite band is The Pixies, doesn't mean the fact that you like the single off of Marilyn Manson's new album defines your identity any less. It's the same with our culture. |

besides, since mangle looks all of 19 in in avatar picture i doubt he was 'in the know' about the book before it 'sold out' since it was first published in 1996 and turned into a movie in 99 Last edited by SEAN!; Mar 24, 06 at 12:12 AM. |

what if you just dont like mcdonalds cause it makes you sick, haha.
i guess the point to this thread is people will like what they like and trying to challenge their PERSONAL views and opinions will only make them more set in their ways and less likely to want to even try to see your point of view. so maybe better to not tell people "how it is", but let them see for themselves in time - after all it's based upon perception no? |

if brand names are a major part of your "identity" so be it, it just makes it easier for people like yourself to snub and be horrified by others |

yeah, and its something that is not going to stop because its common human nature
not the black eyed peas, haha, but some things are just "good" and because theyre good does that make them sellouts? because companies want to have their brand name and therefore image associated with good and already recognized bands/products/etc - that's commercial industry for you eh, i should stop. this doesnt need to continue. :p |

Racism has been going on since long before we were born. No point in fighting that either, I guess. Genius logic there. |

why dont you read up on the history of ford and every other major industrial age manufacturer, those fuckers owned entire cities. how about the hudson's bay company and the dutch east india company both whiched owned large segments of the entire world before most of the nations that now comprise it even existed. then you can come back to me and say that commercialism is somethign new.
