Winston in your expert opinion how long do I wait before asking a raise now that I'm doing all this accounts payable stuff
like my workload has doubled do I wait til I'm super good at it..and hopefully they offer? Or do I nip it in the bud and go soon?? What do you think? |
|

Do it for a while until they get used to the "new" work flow, but don't wait too long or they think you have just complied with the changes.
Once you think the time is right just bring up the issue with HR first and say that you don't think it is right that you are doing all this accounting work when it is not part of your job description and not being paid for it and ask for their opinion too. Once you get HR on your side then there isn't a hell of a lot a manager can do... either they pay you more for the work you are doing or take the work away. They can't punish you for asking or HR will back you up. So that is how you play the game. :c-tard: |

Hun if we had an HR department that would really work well
But this is a small company and the HR decisions are made by the same person who would up my salary -- our owner i was think ing in two weeks to a month -- when I've demonstrated I can do it and they can't function without me (and now they really can't) But I want money now |

If you have no HR department then do the job for a couple of more weeks as you have mentioned the go speak to the owner.
Just state that you feel that this extra workload can be done but you feel that it should be compensated as it is not something you expected to do when you took on your position. If they can't afford to lose you then you have a bit more leverage, if you think they can afford to lose you then you will have to rethink your approach. Usually if you just go speak to the owner and present the fact in an non-arguementive way and things will work out in the end. |
