EXTREMELY important message about Summerlove
Sorry for starting yet another Summerlove thread, but this is important.
A VERY important message from Swing Kids and Twisted Productions: First off we would like to thank-you all for your very positive feedback on Summerlove and it's line-up. On a personal note, it has been my mission since joining Twisted Productions, to ensure that you are all kept informed as to what is going on with our productions and certainly I have proven to listen to the feedback/suggestions given by all of you... For that reason, this is why I am updating you now: In all honesty, Rhythm Nation getting cancelled scared the shit out of us all... Dave, Rick and crew did an awesome job with the show to only have a minimal amount of tickets sell. For whatever reason that happened, I am sure you can all appreciate what was going through our heads at that point, and yes, we were dangerously close to cancelling the show all together. Azim, Salim, Dennis and I sat down today and layed out all the numbers to the show. We truly believe that we can do it with a goal not to make money, but to break even to cover the enormous cost of the show and begin the process of resurecting the "Summerlove" name. As a result we have cut two headliners - Ferry Corsten (this was based on feedback from people in regards to booking Ferry again so quickly - we are replacing him with a more suitable headliner) and The Rascals. Everything will be done to ensure that the production of the show will not be impacted. The bottom line is that we have decided to take the risk and move forward with the show but to see it's success, we need YOUR help. -- Despite recent events, we truly have faith in the Vancouver scene in combination with the Summerlove name and the amazing talent booked this year. This is why we have released the first 1000 tickets at $35/each. In my opinion, especially for the remaining talent booked, locals included, $35 is a very affordable price. Tickets are in pretty much every location I have posted and therefore the only thing left to do from our end is a flyer, which for obvious reasons, we delayed, but it will be out by this weekend. Sorry for the length of the post, but I felt it important to keep you informed and also, ask you to help us bring the Summerlove name back to what it once was. Peace. i think this outdoor thing is what people can't accept...
and it's not the mosquitoes.. as to a buncha factors... the drive the coolness of the weather at night bringing tents the line-up (car and person) to get in when u go during prime time (midnite) the cleanliness (esp. the bathroom) their friends who don't go for those reasons the list goes on people 'l make up many excuses to weed their way out of an outdoor party. and those people who hate plaza so much... are spoiled compared to something like Here on Earth or the Korean or even croatian, wtf more do you want... 3 rooms with one being a theater. |

The promoters for that show wanted to try something differant. It takes alot of brass to try something new these days. Europe has massive festivals during the day, why can't we ? PS: looking forward to seeing Pharcyde.... |

WE CAN DO IT PEOPLE!!!!!!
If all of us promoters and party peeps alike stick togethor and unite the we can still keep things rolling Lets make Rhythm Nation a minor setback instead of a disaster for the scene, it doesn't have to be that way. Wether or not you hate Summerlove and massives......these parties play an important role in our subculture bringing in headliners we don't normally get to see. I encourage people to buy presale....and don't worry......if everyone buys presale the party will go as planned. Twisted/Swing Kids are putting alot of effort of regaining the confidence back in the name Summerlove which is Vancouvers only Huge concert like Rave with a line up that caliber, Good luck guys you have my support AGROout |

None of that stuff stopped people from going for the past 10 years, why should it now? I think it comes down to people just being disenchanted with the whole rave phenomenon, like now that EVERYONE has experienced it, it's not worth going out of the way for anymore Honestly i can't blame them, i've been disenchanted with raves for a very long time. I love parties in the outdoors though. I feel a lot more free without the constraints of walls & a ceiling, and the cool night air is always far preferable to the thick stench of cigarette smoke & human body odour you get at indoor massives. plus, outdoor sound... ooohhh so nice. |

smart thread and smart move by twisted. it scares the crap out of me how every party now is on the borderline for cancellation, and people are "scared" to buy presales. DONT BE SCARED, BECAUSE YOU WILL ONLY UPSET THE PARTY. if you dont want to buy an expensive ticket then buy it nice and early to avoid disappointment. support the vancouver rave scene so we can slowly prep our city for larger and larger shows... takes time, man power and support.
for those too lazy to hit up a store and pay the service fee because 2 dollars is really WAY too much to handle, there will be mobile promoters who can meet up with you....like me! (or from a location where stores are not near by...out of town or not mobile) i will be getting summerlove tickets as soon as i meet up with the marketing and promotions manager of twisted productions (hehehe)....and will be out in full force to get tickets to people as this will be the last party of the summer for me before school starts up. (trust me i will do anything to get the tickets to you..i have a system) lets support this event so we can carry the summerlove tradition. |

I hope this is a wake up call to all you partiers! Come out and SUPORT PLEASE!
If you cant avored (which shouldnt be the case for such a great show) then at least offer to help out with the show some how. We all need to feed the rave economy somehow. Weve got a lot of hard working promoters out there trying to bring in some realy good talent and present some awsome shows. But why should they put in so much work and risk so much money if theres no demand for it? I know meny of you complain and arnt always happy with the the quality of parties... but the scene needs somthing to grow on. Enough rave scene talk. Best of luck guys and hope to see yeah all out at summer love! Last edited by Ree Fresh; Jul 29, 03 at 12:59 AM. |
