Check Your Bank Cards

Thought this would never happen to me... but it did. Somehow it appears that my bank card is part of that ATM replication type scam. They cleaned my account out late last night. After talking to the securities guy for my bank they said that over the course of the weekend there has been a HUGE amount of these cases coming in.
Great... just what I needed, gotta get my rent money prepaired today and my car payment is due for tommorow... There go's my credit rating...

shitty man the same thing happened to me a while ago when a restaurant that was involved in fraudulent activity was under investigation and about 200 accounts where frozen

A girlfriend of mine was just warning me about this yesterday.. and apparently a day before it happened to her one of her friends was hit as well. :(

Well I just completed getting estimates of the damage on my car. Next step now is to file a case at small claims court.

The money was taken out at some machine last night on west broadway that I never been to. Infact, I've never been on west broadway ever.They took out the money while I was sound asleep.

nice play victim.

if the bank has already decided that you arent at fault, they will cover all of those things. generally the theft is rectified within a week.

your credit rating isnt going to be affected.

happened to me and a coworker of mine back around june. we also both bank through TD.

i now only ever use atm's that have that plastic thing sticking out of the card slot.

ya they said that they need to "investigate" it and that will take 5-7 business days for them to complete there investigation and that if they determined that its a duplicated card (to which the guy said it most likely is) then they will give my money back. Thats great and stuff, but I need access to my money and my account NOW. Who ever did this made multiple transactions within minutes to take out essentially everything I had in that account. I know I will get my money back thats not a problem. The fact that I have to now do a shit load of paper work for various payments and what not pisses me off.

i get that it is a pain in the ass but it still isnt going to fuck anything up for you, unless you hadnt noticed, which you did.

be smart people. have two accounts, one connected to your bank card, and the other one to keep your money in. transfer money online/by phone when you need it to avoid getting ass raped.

happened to me years ago. I keep most of my money in a seperate account that can't be accessed by my bank card now and never have more than a few hundred in my chequing account.

re silver: there's atm's now that have plastic things sticking out of the card insertion slot that prevent card replication. they're on most of the official bank atm's.

re bold: if you need money right now, yuo should call TD back. I know that they offered me a free overdraft account until i got my money back.

your credit rating has nothing to do with card skimming, especially if you bank caught it first which makes it even better.... things like that happen all the time, that is why it is important to make sure your institution has type of insurance that covers fraud, etc

in terms of your payments, etc, get your branch to fund it from their ledger, till everything is reimbursed to you, your own branch should be able to do that

on another hand, try to stay away from using "atm" or "Abm" machines, basically atm machines that do not belong to major financial institutions, and you'll be fine

thats the thing I rarely use ATM cash dispensing machines. I mainly use my card if I am going to a restaurant/store at the counter and use that atm type machine.

I will be looking at my statements and probably will make some phone calls as well since there isn't alot of places I go to. I mainly spend my money in the same stores. Will try and figure it out.

No. I spend my money either in chilliwack, abbotsford or downtown vancouver.

another thing popping up a lot more is debit machine fraud.

think there was a few cases of this in a food court.
