VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vancouver Police say the closure of the Granville Mall helped keep a cap on any New Year's Eve violence in the Entertainment District last night, but there was an early morning incident on Terminal Street which ended with a police car being hit by another car.

Police say two brothers were leaving a party around 2:50 a.m. and tried to hail a cab by jumping into the middle of the road. The cab driver ended up hitting one of the men, leaving him with serious injuries, including two broken legs. But as VPD Constable Howard Chow explains, that's not where the story ends. "As our members (officers) were on the scene, in their cars writing reports, with pylons and police emergency lights on, an impaired driver struck their marked police car. The driver is looking at facing charges."

The VPD is also reporting an apparent overnight shooting. Just after 9 a.m. this morning, a man walked into Vancouver General Hospital, complaining of a gunshot wound. The victim claims the shooting happened at a rave at the PNE. Police are still trying to confirm his story. Police say the victim is known to them.

What I don't understand is how a shooting inside a rave goes potentially unnoticed and wouldn't have been dealt with then and there.

Its called a parking lot.... Clearly you have never even been around the PNE grounds let alone the pacific coliseum. Security is normally pretty tight in the venue itself. Either this guy got shot in the parking lot or around the PNE grounds (outside the coliseum) or is just making up a story.

What the fuck, thats crazy..

My guess is that the story was probably true, as the dude that got shot and made the report to the VPD must of wanted to charge the fuck out of whoever that shot him, therefore would simply lead the police to the right direction like most ppl would.

I could be wrong though but I believe this dude!! lol

I would guess otherwise. If I was shot and I didn't want the police to know the details (IE Drug releated, ect) I would say I was shot at a place where there were 5000 ppl(5000 suspects). Everytime you show up at the hospital with a gun wound the police have to be called regardless of what the 'victim' wants. So to hide the details and get treated what better way to say you were shot at the largest nye event in Vancouver.

However a huge fight on the main floor almost broke out somewhere around 5-6 am. So you never know!

Yeah, true.. Lets hope this dude is not a liar liar pants on fire, otherwise he'll burn his dick aside from being shot, which is the worst way to start a new year :P
