People should be RESPONSIBLE if they're going to have sex - IMO it's worse to bring an unwanted child into the world than get an STD you were stupid enough not to protect yourself against.

If you don't want to get pregnant, get on birth control. If you don't want STDs or worse, use condoms. If you don't have a long-time partner who you know is 100% clean (or you're not 100% clean), you should use both. Using a condom as birth control has a 10-18% fail rate - that doesn't exactly convince me that people should rely on condoms alone.
