Finally my poker cold streak is over...

note: I only play 1/2 no limit... 3/6 is too crazy for me right now, and not really willing to invest 600 dollars on a top pair top kicker for 1 hand...

okay so i have been card dead, and getting runner runnered like crazy lately by noobs chasing gutshots and flushes etc.... so i've been down like 2000 in the last 3 days..

last night was a great night.. up around 1500 at 1/2.... but one thing that i can't seem to do, is play with a friend at the same table... always makes me play stupid hands because you get carried away having fun and hitting crazy hands with horrible hole cards..

anyways.. at around 3am after being there for 5-6 hours, we started dicking around because 1 guy at the table kept crying whenever someone would straddle.. so the me and the 2 guys beside me kept straddling every hand we could... (seats 3 4 and 6) .... and every time someone would straddle someone would raise the straddle to 20 bucks whenever seat 10 (the guy who was crying about straddles) would call the 5 dollar straddle..

now heres the funny part.. i bet 20 bucks blind on the straddle when seat 10 called the straddle... i looked down and i luckily had pocket 10's... he called and the flop was great for me... something like 7 4 2 rainbow... he bets 50 i go 150 and he folds.... hes titling hard now...

the very next hand seat 10 straddles.. and then i look at my cards and i have Pocket kings!!!

i couldn't have been more perfect... when it came around to me... i knew he straddled... but i asked the dealer "who straddled?" and he says "seat 10" ... i look at him, laugh and say "oh okay then, im all in" and laugh... he calls immediately.. i had around 700 bucks infront of me, and he had around 500.... he shows pocket queens..

i got paid nicely on that hand... and it couldn't have been more perfect... he assumed i was just fucking with him because we were playing a bit loose at that point... he tilted HARDCORE after that.

even though we were playing loose a little and fucking around, i have no idea how he called me when i made it 700 dollars from 5 dollars.... what did he put me on? even if i had absolutely nothing and was trying to steal the 5 bucks he put in, he still only had queens... not like he had any money invested into the pot

I have a good friend who works at Edgewater Casino. She makes the casino a lot of money. At the end of the month, she walks out with a pretty crappy paycheck and she never gambles. This serves as a lesson to me.

I go all in with kings, and lose to Aces... then big deal.... that's poker.


I don't know what your friend working at a casino has to do with anything... i don't play any house games, i only play poker at the casino.... poker can't be compared to blackjack and roulette ..

straddling is when UTG posts 2BB blind preflop, it generates action and loosens up tight tables. You can even straddle UTG+1 for 3BB.

straddle is 5 bucks at boulevard... makes it easier on the dealers... not sure if other casinos have taken this on though...

fritz forgot to mention that the person who straddles also gets last option

Well I would assume they'd get last option because in effect they're posting the big blind, while the guys to their left are posting a "medium blind" and small blind respectively. If I'm picturing this right..

Yep.. you got it... they basically pay 5 bucks to have the same position big blind gets...

and the good thing about straddling sometimes, is like fritz said, it opens up tight tables.... you also usually get at least 3-4 callers when you straddle... for some reason people are willing to pay 5 bucks to play a hand they would usually chuck away for 2 bucks... i don't know why that is, but it's something i've noticed... and when it comes back around to you, and you have a decent hand nobody can really put you on shit cause it was a straddle, so they might think you are just trying to steal the 20 bucks in the pot by raising 20 on top

usually works for me at tight tables.. plus.. worst case scenario you get a couple of callers, and you will make more with your hole cards if you hit on the flop then if you would if it was 2 bucks preflop...
