So I have figured out that Moridin was Ishamael before being "re-incarnated" but I am still wondering about the rest of them... they could even be Chosen from the Age of Legends that we have not seen before... There is a reference in the book to at least a dozen of them dying during the War of Power...
Everytime I re-read the series, I pick up on so many things that I missed during previous readings... |

Now I am on book 10 of the Wheel of Time - Crossroads of Twilight
1/2 way through, or thereabouts.... so far, not his best writing... a little slow, not much is going on. Oh, and CrookedKing - My theory about Taim being Demandred got blown out of the water a bit after I posted... they are different people. |

Yeah, I was getting the feeling that this one was the filler book.... which sucks, cause it is going to be at least a year until the next one comes out...
I hope he has them all written and sitting somewhere, cause at the rate this series is progressing, Jordan is going to die long before the final book is released... |

I just finished a killer book and can't wait to start "A heartbreaking work of staggering genius" by Dave Eggers. i've heard quite a bit of good things about it. seems neat.
tim if you like king arthur stuff i heard that this guy Jack Whyte wrote some good shit. he came to talk to my creative writing class once. had some cool things to say. he had a scottish accent too, can't go wrong with that. |

i've met jack whyte before. funny story that...i was reading "a dream of eagles" and he came into my old work and asked me where the bathroom was. i was flabergasted. i find that his books tend to be too "good". you know what i mean? they're kind of unrealistic for the Times and they ALWAYS turn into porn.

porn? really? he doesn't seem the type to write porn.
he knows a hell of a lot about that time period though. or at least that came across in his lecture. i was just listening to his accent though, so i probably missed stuff. that's crazy that he just walked into your work. where do you work? |

i was working at super valu in park royal at the Time.
his historical shit is good. the names that he uses for his characters are up to par...but there's something about his books that seem so light and dandy (even though merlyn gets leprosy and sees his Life fade away lol) yeah, "a dream of eagles" is quite pornish. especially book eight. |
|
|||
wow crazy.
yeah that's the thing about some writers that write about historical time periods. they use the language of today, and it doesn't seem to fit. it's hard to pinpoint sometimes why it feels wrong, but then you realize it's because they're writing it with the same language that they'd write a book that is happening in present times. |

i think what i didnt' like about it was the fact that there were alot of stupid things that would happen. camulod (camelot) probably wouldn't have existed at that Time. i don't know how to explain it properly at the moment (i've been drinking all night) but if you are looking to get into some good arthurian tales, you can get into "the winter king" by bernard cornwell (i think it was the first book to be mentioned in this thread) or "the once and future king" by some old school author that i've forgotten the name for.

I put down "A Hundred Years of Solitude" by the great Gabriel Garcia Marquez [and quite an awesome book it was] and I have returned to a favourite of mine, Nobel-winner Albert Camus, for his "La Peste" [The Plague]. Wish I had more time to read, but with exams it's kind of hard, right now...

^hey! i bought that book. the solitude one. at a used bookstore.
one of the main reasons i bought it is because it seems like such a big symbol in Bret Easton Ellis' book "Rules of Attraction"...mentioned so many times and eachother the characters reads it once. so i thought i'd buy it. |
