I like the idea. I personally pay 0% attention to someone's sig, so once is more than enough.

what would be easier for you, limiting the number of times it will appear, or limiting how long they can be (some of them are pretty effing long)? to be honest, i don't even care. get rid of them altogether even, doesn't make a big difference to me.

i say either make a limit on the size of people's sigs, or like you said 1 per thread.

it's kinda stupid when the actual thread is 90% sigs and 10% posts

It would be to major combat the exact thing that is happening in this very thread. Repeated signature garbage. The few serious comments posted in this thread are suffocated by over flowing repeated signatures.

I do like the idea signatures show up on a users more recent post in a thread. Also I would implement the concept of a switch to turn signatures on in every post or in just a single case. However I would default every user to the single case and have then able to switch it back.

Personally the argument of promotions isn't a factor in my mind, as signatures are an option the administration has selected as allowed, they are not a right to the user.

Also bandwidth has nothing to do with this.

well,from my experience, lots of people use the sig as promotion!

I say once per page is enough. It would have to suck to go to a different page just to remind yourself what someone's sig says.

Honestly, page one of this thread is an excellent example of why this is a good idea.

I think that the sigs should go. Your reply (in more serious threads) is much more useful when youève read most of the thread. With the signatures taking up so much room I barely ever look through all of the pages. I think its a great idea. you still see the sigs but not the clutter:)!
