Criminology has nothing to do with "fighting crime" i dont want to be the next batman. It has to do with understanding the criminal element and what motivates people to commit crimes *and then* how to control and regulate it. fyi i have no desire in doing that either.

If you have a criminal mind...you get a criminology degree to make your knowledge reputable..and in turn your work you do is way more effective.

I just know...from experience..if you're studying something that you have never had past experiences with...it's much more difficult to aquire a thorough understanding of someone that is in a completely different situation. You would have to be a genius..of the empathetic variety*

I'm from west african and can say that this story is true. I doubt the number of children who go missing in england is that high, though.

But some west africans believe in witchcraft and will go to any lengths to make sure they're not in the presence of a "witch" or someone who's trying to place a spell on them. It's mostly the uneducated ones, though.

So yes, the practice does happen in Africa, and i'm sure that a lot of africans take their traditions and beliefs with them whene they immigrate.

edit: i didn't read wum's link because i never do. the fact that this practice does take place in society doesn't change the fact that wum did probably post this link without doing any research about it. it could have been a story about ethiopian women giving birth to goldfish and he would still have believed it AND posted the link. in short, purely coincidence that for once, he's right.
