but just think about all these customers (immigrants, etc lol), that jump on anything that has "SALE" sign on, no matter if it was actually even cheaper before (think of boxing day lol, what a rip off/lies [most of the time anyway]) and basicly for sweat shop union to be performing at best buy is NOT about the venue .. if i was a peformer (or dj) i would most likely would agree to perform anywhere, and i woudlnt turn down anything that will or would promote me and make me become more popular, in order to get more bookings.. so lets say SSU opens tomorrow for BEP, of course we all know the store will be jammed with customers, etc... after performance first thing will be announced is to get SSU's album NOW, and u save yourself blah blah blah.. OR get SSU album now for a special prices of 14.99$!

so ya the moral of this post is that sweat shop union makes money out of every album that's sold, and of course the more albums are sold , the more bookings they will have, because of their popularity!

I think we all need to appreciate artists who perform at these kind of events. No matter what the venue or reason is for the show, these artists are out there doing what they love. They are there to entertain you and even if you aren't fond of the group or their style... we should all learn to respect what they're doing.

BEP are performing here in Kelowna tomorrow night. Although I tend to lean toward rock and harder rock as my musical preference I would have liked to get tickets to the show. They are one group that in my eyes actually has talent and I respect them and the music they produce.

Perform a few songs for a large group and then urge the listeners to buy the album... and on top of that you make money off every album sold!?!?! Wow, that IS difficult.

There are some special cases, but I think everyone in this thread understands completely.

If I were an artist, I know I would take every opportunity to promote myself or my band. Hell, even Alan Jackson took the opportunity to earn some income by exploiting the 9/11 tragedy in one (could have been 2?) song that he wrote. In my opinion he did it tastefully though and that's important with situations like that.

Waiting for 4 hrs to see a group most likely do no more than 3 or 4 songs.... no thanks.

Eminem soooo impressed me and I totally thought he wouldn't. The guy was getting pelted by lemons (quite literally) for almost his entire set by so called "punks" but stayed on stage and did an awesome set, even started throwing the lemons back too.

Ice-T was dope, BEP... meh, i didn't think they were so hot, but that's just me.

ps. I do understand the marketing side of things Alla.... i just don't agree with them, and I don't really care what anybody says about it being good for the group or thinking that they just love to perform and that's why they're doin it... and BEP is a commercialized group, no denying it, but I guess over commercialized groups just leave a bitter taste in mouth, even if they are good.
