Auld Bandwagon?
So I wonder what the bandwagoners are gunna think, now that Auld has been given a string of games to really show how he plays? Any goalie can come in for a game or 2, but it takes a while to prove who should start.
But he has a few weaknesses .. bad rebound control. sakic was standing to his left and he directed the rebound right into him then it bounced in the net. another fairly weak goal went off his shoulder and over and in.. and that flick from the point, he just stood there and it lobbed in. Im not blamin the last game on him or anything (canucks harsh got outplayed) just sayin he has been given a long enough time so we can see his strenghts and weaknesses. Both cloutier and Auld have their pros / cons .. sometimes its hard to say who is better. Auld has better positioning, Cloutier has better instincts/reflexes wut do y'all think I think we need a diff world class goalie or we'll never do anything. |

Hmm, as far as Auld is concerned and how he's been playing, I also remember back to when he stepped in for most of the play offs before the lock out. I think Auld is a good goalie and I have always liked him better than Cloutier or Hedberg. Every goalie has their weaknesses, but I think it's good that Auld really keeps his cool, even when the Canucks are sucking wind (which they were last game). I never jumped on a bandwagon, I was already on it before everyone decided they liked him better. I personally think that Cloutier is a good goalie, he's just been with the canucks for too long, it's time for him to move to another team. You know how you get sour towards things you have done for too long, I think that's cloutier's problem. But that's just what I think. They both have their differences in style of tending to the net, and they are both good goalies, I just think that perhaps their place isn't so much with the Canucks... especially Cloutier.

auld stepped it up big time last year in the playoffs... he kept them in with wicked goaltending... last nights game didnt really give auld a chance to prove anything cuz most of the goals were garbage... i still think cloutier sucks ass... canucks shuld trade him...

Hahahaha, most likely. Ah the lovely politics behind hockey, it's too bad that players can't go back to the good times when they were kids and they played hockey just because they loved to do it. That's what true hockey is about, that's what playing a sport is all about as well. The guys have it made, they get free equipment, get paid sometimes millions to play a sport that they obviously love playing and they are bitching that they want more money. I would kill to be paid 1 million to dance to my heart's content, but the dancing industry hasn't followed in the footsteps of national sports. Money controls this world it seems.

Here's my notes on Auld. Very smooth side to side but weak on his short side and glove side towards the top of the net.
Plays downlow pretty darn well, but needs work on some rebound controls, and controlling the top corners of the net better. 5 hole could use a little work too, and poke checking he isn't very good at deciding when and when not to poke check. Always cool in the face of madness when bombarded by shots all at once. i'll add more later when i'm home from work haha |
