I've been an Ovechkin fan since he was drafted 2 years ago.
Crosby has nothing on Ovechkin.

I understand people being excited about Ovechkin, and I certainly think you can make a case for him being rookie of the year. You can even make a case (although I wouldn't) for him ending up being a more prolific scorer over the course of his career.

But people need to watch what they say about Sidney Crosby. The kid is EIGHTEEN FUCKING YEARS OLD. If you've watched him play at all, and know anything about hockey (and I think you do, Anjew), you've seen the next level talent he posesses, and you realize that he doesn't have "nothing" on anyone.

You too, Deeb, regarding thread title. In case you too hadn't noticed, "Sidney Who?" is leading his team in scoring. This would be a team that consists of people such as Zigmund Palffy, John LeClair, Mark Recchi, Sergei Gonchar, and a host of other decent players who aren't rookies and aren't 18 fucking years old.

Oh, and he's 8 points clear of his closest competitor on Pitt.

Did I mention he's 18?

LOL nice... a debate with hockey i'm looking forward to this already.

Name 5 players on the Washington Capitals roster.
I follow this team, and I can hardly do it.

Pittsburgh stacked up in the offseason.
Gonchar,Leclair, Recchi, Roy, Pallfy, Odelein,.... On top of that remaining penguins such as Lemeiux, Ryan Malone and Dick Tarnstrom. These players were to help Crosby rack up those points and Crosby hasn't been able to do that. The players brought in were not suppose to outscore Crosby, they were brought in and came in strictly for him

Teams only have to focus on Ovechkin to stop him. If you look at the stats. At least half of the goals the Capitals have scores, Ovechkin has had a hand in them.

I get to see all the Capitals games on TV and Penguins games and gets way more attention from other teams. Crosby on the other hand takes "stupid penalties" as Kovalchuk puts it. Crosby hangs on to the puck way too long and gets nailed for it every time. In 2 years Crosby may reach that potential you speak of, but in 2 years who knows where Ovechkin's level will go.

Yes, Ovechkin has 2 years on Crosby but as of right now... in terms of the Calder Trophy, Ovechkin will win this unless an injury takes place and you know it.

By the way, capitalizing 18 fucking years old doesn't make your point any more valid. Mentioning it 3 times shows that you have no other basis for your debate.

Anjew is right 55% of Washington's TOTAL OFFENCE is from Ovenchkin's performance *59 points* I think? Thats second only to Jagr for the Rangers.

Ovenchkin has absolutely no support from his team ^ read again ^

Sure Crosby is leading the team in scoring, and yes he does have some great talent for sure, but have you noticed he isn't really leading them because most over half his points are from assists.

Ovenchkin has over 10 more goals than Crosby hence that leading your team when your team sucks why not lead by example goal scoring is most important in a situation like this.

By the way when you think Goal Scorer you think the types of players like Kovalchuk and now Ovenchkin. Figures their both Russian's.

DYNAMITE!!

p.s: I can still see Crosby winning the Calder but he is gonna have to do something dramatic and like Boxing gets the people's vote as I like to call it.

Oh ya and that goal is an awesome awesome goal. Watch his hands as he's rolling over and how he keeps hit hands moving and gets his stick to the puck. Amazing.

It helps if you both people know what's being debated.

Go read my post again and get back to me when you've figured it out.

Two_Six is an unknown quantity at this point
22 goals for a rookie at the age of 18 is pretty good. How much points does he have now 51? 79 penalty minutes, he thinks he's hardcore, he needs to concentrate more on scoring goals cause he's a great player. Too bad the Penguins lost their 7th straigh game against the Nucks :)

Go Canucks 4 straight win :) Bertuzzi represented tonight.

agreed he also plays on the worst team in the NHL put him on a half decent team and see what happens, or better yet a team like the sens :)

How about help his team win some games. Given before the start of this seasons everyone was all like pittsburgh is gonna easily win and get into the playoffs with crosby and lemieux , palffy etc..

and don't say washington isn't winning they are higher in the standings, and they have literally maybe ovenchkin and kolzig and thats it.

Worst team??

A team with Ziggy Palffy, Sergei Gonchar, Mike Recci, John Leclair, Mario Lemieux, Ryan Malone etc is the worst team.

Firstly St Louis is the worst team in the league, secondly Penguins some were picking to win the stanley cup and alot were picking to easily make it into the playoffs.

The penguins are the worst cause no one on the team does anything to help the team when it needs helping.

im pretty sure cros has helped his team win games, how many clutch game wining goals/assists has he scored for them, probly a large % of there what 11wins or whatever the fuck number it is. And anyone who expects an 18year old rookie to just come in a solve the teams problems is dreaming no matter how good they are.

I'm not done I'll end my posts with well how many points do you think Ovenchkin would have if he had better linemates like Leclair or Palffy?

I mean he is 55% of washingtons total offence with no linemates pretty much

He's had I think 2 gwg in ot.

You say no one expected an 18 year old rooking to solve the problem. Well thats what everyone is hyping him up to be.

Besides look at his support around him. I bet Recci, Palffy and all these veteran good players thought they were gonna have breakout years this year with Sid the Kid.

Not saying Crosby won't be good in the future. Just saying Ovenchkin is far more dominant and entertaining to watch rite now.

ovechkin will get and deserves the calder trophy. Crosby is amazing, and will only continue to get better, but the pressures of being the nhl saviour, or even penguins saviour is far too much for the kid, plus he's only 18. But he sure doesn have a mouth on him, but who wouldn't when the whole league is mugging you and no one on your team sticks up for you.

I give the Calder to Ovechkin by a nose hair

^ I'd give it to him by more than a nose hair easily.

Just because of Ovenchkin's supporting cast compared to Crosby's supporting cast though they are heavily under achieving.

because Crosby is 18 though i'll give him points for that

it'll be close, but i do hear what you are saying, but pressure is a bitch and there's a lot of it on crosby's shoulders. that combined with the fact he's 18 will make the calder race that much closer
