Buddy of mine at Radical says that when Sony released the SDK they basically had everybody scratching their heads saying "Um, how the hell do we work this? What am I going to do with all these processors?"

It's only been in the last year or so that they've been understanding how to program for it and start to do really impressive things with it.

I expect that we'll probably see some decent titles before the christmas season this year.

But, the appealing games as per the release date list on ps3.ign.com, most of the games are multiplatform.

Games like resistance, yup.. there was a lot of shit on the screen but gears certainly beat the shit out of it.
Would you rather hit a monster with the back of your gun, or chainsaw them to death while the camera rotated and blood splattered all over the screen, with fantastic sound effects of the chainsaw ripping into the meat.

GRANTED.. Dev's were unsure of what they were doing with the hardware and I think, motorstorm was a great candidate of what the PS3 could do.
Remember the early releases minus resistance? Lots of critics and gamers alike where pondering the question: "this is next gen for sony????"
