I started watching this show because I was bored, but after seeing the next 2 episodes, I think this show has potential.

Anyone else here watch it?


Short summary of the plot for those who have no clue what I'm talking about :

The O.C., otherwise known as Orange County, California, is an idyllic paradise – a wealthy, harbor-front community where everything and everyone appears to be perfect. But beneath the surface is a world of shifting loyalties and identities, of kids living secret lives, hidden from their parents, and of parents living secret lives, hidden from their children. RYAN ATWOOD, a troubled teen from the wrong side of the tracks who is thrust into this world, will soon learn that nothing is what it seems. He moves to the O.C. when SANDY COHEN, an idealistic pro-bono public defender, invites him to stay in his guest house. Sandy's wife, KIRSTEN, wealthy and beautiful, former homecoming queen, perfect spouse, mother, and business woman, isn't happy that Ryan has moved in. And she's worried about how it will affect their teenage son SETH, a soulful dreamer ostracized by his peers. Making the whole situation more interesting is MARISSA COOPER, the heartbreakingly beautiful girl next door who seems to glide through life effortlessly. That is, until the indiscretions of her wealthy father JIMMY threaten to break her world apart. The O.C. is a story of fathers and sons, husbands and wives, and the coming of age of three young people. Ryan's arrival is the catalyst for new alliances forged, old flames rekindled, and unlikely friendships born.

I've watched all 3 episodes (I think there has been 3), it holds my attention at least... I totally agree that it has potential.

It's like 90210, with hotter girls and more kicking. You can't lose with that combo.

the homeless puppy-dog criminal look is so fucking HOT.

it definately has potential, but i don't think they'll be able to hold a strong storyboard for more than a season or 2... they only really have 1 character with an appealing story to him. and there's only so much you can do with 1 guy's life... 90210 was so successful cuz they had a handful of people with fucked up lives and fucked up families to work with for years. this show only has 2 main families, and like 10 static characters.

i think it'll be easier to determine the success of this show when and if these kids go back to school. the school scene is always great to pitch in new characters and develop them.

the main parents in the show, sandy and what'sherface totally remind me of the walshes from 90210. but sandy really needs to fix his fucking hair.

The show definitely gets some twists and turns.

SPOILERS

- Ryan does indeed get enrolled into private school.

- Luke gets shot at some point, and guess who's the one to save him.

- Ryan gets a job to show that he's worth something to the Cohens.

- Ryan asks Merissa out. (yes!)

- Julie and Jimmie (Merissa's parents) may seperate, which could pave the way for a Jimmie/Kirsten affair.

- Some other main characters will appear in later episodes, most notably Kirsten's dad (the O.C.'s bigshot) and this other woman from Sandy's past who offers him a job or something?


This is all from various spoilers found on the net. I read it a while back, so some of it maybe mixed up, but to me atleast it shows that this show can develop some really good twists and turns.

I agree with bob that this is basically going to end up being a badass version of 90210...and I love it! It's got all the elements that I need to keep me interested in a show.

The story line thus far is pretty cool. The fella that plays Seth is such a good actor. The way he plays Seth with that quirkiness is pretty cool... he does the same thing in the movie "Grind" that he's in right now.

If the story line stays fresh and they keep all the fighting, TnA, drugs, and overall badass-ness I'll watch for a long time. This has turned into one of my can't miss TV shows.... actually the only can't miss show! I hate TV for the most part but this one has got me sucked in pretty good!!

Yes, tonights episode was THE BOMB! Best part, Ryan comforts Marissa at the outside at the end, he puts his jacket around her, they turn around and BAM Luke is there. A true Kodak moment.

I THOUGHT I recognized one of the guys in "Grind" from somewhere, and now it clicked (seeing that Shawn gave me the answer of where I saw him from).

I will probably be watching The OC tonight.

This show reminds me of Beverly Hills 90210 when I was growing up! I think its a pretty good show!
