I think thats called life, not just "the scene". You will find issues like this with your friends, family, and your job at some point. There are good honest hard working ppl in the scene... it took me over 6 years to figure out who they were.

Halloween is a spooky event. It can also be scary but a party called SCARY wouldn't quite work. I guess they could call it FRIGHTENING or maybe SCARED SHITLESS or maybe.... WHO GIVES A FLYING WITCH!?!?!

A party in fucking Serbia is using a word quite normally associated with Halloween. Oh shit!?! You mean there's a fucking has been lame ass party that used to be thrown all the way back in Vancouver, BC, Canada already called that? HOLY FUCKING ASS RAMMING VIRGINS! WE NEED TO CHANGE THAT SHIT NOW!

I'm wondering if there's ever been an event in any other part of the world that might have happened to be called 'Spooky'? this is absolutly true, but ive been fucked over large by two of the best friends i ever had in the last few months and one of them was trash since the time we were kids so i should have seen it coming; but the other was nothing short of an absolute gem until the scene made him whatever it is he is today. but you are right it is just life and all you can do is iscolate yourself and keep on trucking.

we did the research prior to registering the trademark and to the best of our knowledge it was original. the EU and the UN will hold up trademarks/copyrights for any country under their umbrellas even if not international.

bottom line is, they stole the name, and it was a lame move on their part. dont know how to dumb it down more.

Indeed "Spooky" is a pretty general name to represent a Halloween event and could be used anywhere... in other words I have the understanding of an honest mistake. But is it an honest mistake when the promoters are already well aware of that EXACT name already been used?


Ok so maybe their party is far far away and is aimed for a completly different market. But lets say I was at "Party 1" in Tokyo and decided to have a party here in Vancouver called "Party 1". Not such a big deal. But then I decide to ADVERTISE my event happening in Vancouver called "Party 1" in Tokyo... aka the original place where I got the name from???


However what if "Spooky" was ever to go international? Its like would any event ever dare to be named after "Pacha", "Space", or "Ministry of Sound" etc? Look again at "named after". Exactly they named their party AFTER Swing Kids.

I totally agree with wellbelove. Since party names do get re-used again and again through out the world.. such as seeing the same name for a rave, then a club night, and sometimes even a skool dance, its really not too big of a deal..

but the way evolve did it by posting it right on fnk is a dick move.. its kinda like saying ha..HA! what u gonna do about it its in serbia

but oh well.. i guess if your party is like sensation than its ok to say u own it worldwide, otherwise its pretty much expected for sth like this to happen.. just that evolve happens to be the 1st one to make the move.. not to mention i see sensation used as rave names all around the world by other companies, and same for club nights, etc.. so yea since you're not using it anymore i believe its time to let go.

I'm pretty damn sure there are hundreds or even thousands of parties (raves, club nights, dances, etc.) around the world named Spooky every year =P
