I dunno i thought popular culture and mainstream were one and the same as said. Popular in this sense can mean consumed by but not produced or distributed by the mass. So popularity here can mean a economic or commercial attitude, produced in this way, and distributed by something like the mass-media and other arms of the capitalist system.

Important thing is that it's going to happen again in the future.

I can focus next summer on Soundwave and wait for 2010 if it means an appropriately stellar product hits Pemberton that year.
