One thing that kinda seems strange to me is that there does not seem to be many OKANAGAN artists playing at this...and yet it is a an OKANAGAN music festival? Im prolly just out of the loop and do not recognize the names except happy mike (who rocks).

i don't see why so many people bitch about the cost of pemberton. to go see jay z, nin, tom petty, and coldplay separately would be almost the same price.

^Good point..someone name some Pemberton DJs..and point me to their demos...

Really it does mean a tonne to local artists to play at their local music festivals.. For example; I might get a gig in Whitefish because I played at the local Kootenanny music festival featuring Infected Mushroom and somone really enjoyed my set there, and at shambhala last year. Maybe someone in Montana will see me and like what i do too...Snowball effect.

I believe there is one local playin here anyways, happy mike...for the rest of the djs...the snowball effect is happening for them too. And that is now why there playin in kelowna...

Let's face it guys, it takes a lot of money to throw a major festival. Not all of them can be Shambhalas. Usually those are the ones that are purely homegrown. Shambles didn't exactly have the international names they do these days when they started out....

Best shows, festivals, raves or whatever are always the ones that start out small, build a crew, and then as the interest gains from there they begin to expand.

This is why I don't really see this show pulling the numbers they're expecting. It's not as built up as Shambles, and it's not as locally grown as Soundwave. Kinda seems like they're either banking on cityfolk making the trip (not likely to happen) or a bunch of kids just wanting a place to do drugs.

Pavo and Luna... the pull behind name(s) like that wouldnt even pack apex... let alone a maritime party.

Global Deejays and Erick Decks; theyre shuffled in and out of town often...
"Festival".. isnt the point to cater to the masses, and bring out people to see fresh/rare artists and acts?

now that is a festival... that caters to 16 000 - 40 000 people
Check out the lineup last year, the Dance Stage barely had 15 000 people during the peaktime(s) with such a huge lineup... mainstage catered to around 20 000.
