what separates facebook from other social networking sites is that its able to create a sense of being in an actual community with its members. for the first time users can monitor the actions of their "neighbors" (friends) as well as their own actions. updates like these are important especially within a traditionally static context. this coupled with a sleek and simple interface (thanks to ajax), is the reason why the creator is refusing to sell for less than 10 billion

it's almost like religion isn't it? everyone in it raves about it, and the facebook heathens want them all to go to hell.

i should start a facebook religion. travel around knocking door to door, telling people about what facebook can do for your life, if you would just open your hearts to it. write on my wall to repent your sins, hallelujah! you can order a facebook bible for only 9.95! i'd only be in it for tax purposes though.

If your circle is on myspace alot, then you don't need facebook, most of my friends use facebook so there i am. Its as simple as that.

I found 12 cousins all close to my age that I didn't even know existed thanks to facebook. This may not be a big deal to most people, but to someone like me who grew up with a bratty brother 2 years younger and only ONE cousin who is 7 years younger and lives on the sunshine coast, this was a BIG HUGE DEAL for me. None of us knew about each other and when we figured it all our we were SO excited. We're ALL meeting for the first time on Sunday and it is going to be awesome.

I also have a lot of friends scattered all over Canada and the US and it makes it easier for us to keep up with what's going on in each others' lives. I don't have time for weekly hour-long conversations with each of my long-distance friends, but I still care about them and want to know how things are going in their lives!

I do the same with friends from all over the world, its much easier to throw off ten quick wall posts then abunch of mails. Being in japan right now i can't use msn because of the time difference.

They're second and third cousins. Most of them used to live in the interior but they've recently moved to the coast for school. Since they weren't immediate family no one ever really talked about them. My dad's side of the family is a little funny because there are a number of half-siblings and step-parents that it's difficult to break down our family tree. But we're trying!
