What scares me the most about facebook is this is like a mantra from all of them.

I dont think you'll "regret" not joining facebook. If your suspicious about the big brother and credit card scandals than just be careful of the info you hand out and keep your profile on high security.

If face book is anything like friendster, hi5, or myspace... than its time and hype is almost over. Id bet money that in the next 2-6 months there will be a more popular networking site that everyone will be addicted too. And I will be left with trying to close down yet another networking profile of mine.

i don't know...i know that internet websites go in and out of popularity quickly, but facebook is definitely taking active steps to try and stay fresh and on top of the game by allowing third party created applications.

sure, some of them are annoying...and you get those idiots who add everything to their profile. but some are really cool and add a whole new level to the website.

we'll see what happens.

meh - this is the social networking site du jour just like Myspace and Friendster before it.

There will be something else within the next year or two (and a bunch of niche guys like hi5, tribes, etc.)

Facebook has been around for quite awhile, but previously it had only been open to college students, then they added high school students, and finally opened it up to the general public. I think it will outlast the fad status unlike myspace, hi5, friendster, etc. because they're constantly upgrading the system and keeping with what their users want. It's way more user-friendly than myspace - I've never had facebook give me an error message. I also like it a lot better than any other comparable site because you use your real name and your profile can be totally private it you want it to be. You can really customize it and have different levels of security for each part of your profile! Big fan :)

I hear that I should join facebook at least once a day, and that I'm some kind of outcast cause Im not on it.

^ As much as many may feel it is un moral to change our social life from in person and phones to the internet... it is what is happening.

It started with email, msn, forums, and now networking sites. I will respect your choice and stop bugging you to join, but the reason your friends want you to join so bad is because facebook is one of our main ways to socialize and communicate these days and we DONT want you excluded.

See in my situation its reconnected me with people who have also been wondering wtf happened to me or where I went. Moving from montreal to bc was something sudden... was without notice and shit. So really I disappeared out of no where. Some people thought I was dead and shit. So I've reconnected with friends that I haven't heard in 12-13 years. Sure times have changed, but its amazing how in all cases we were wondering "where did he go?" , "what is going on with them?"
