dick head cab drivers

whats with dick head cab drivers that complain or refuse to drive out to the suburbs?

anyway last night i was at the local pub and i got tired around 12:30 so asked the bartender to call me a cab. the cab shows up and when i get inside it the guy demands that i pay him cash up front, and i told him i dont have any cash but i have visa and i only live a two minute drive up the street. he freaks out and says he dosnt want to take visa and dosnt trust that itll go through, i got angry and i told him that he could suck my dick because i only have visa and im not going to go into seven eleven aty fuckin midnight so i can pay him cash that his company and the tax man will never see. anyway i end up atseven eleven and then flag the police down and they ask what the problem is and the cabbie fucks off. I told the police that i just want to go home because im drunk and tired as fuck so they ended up driving me the rest of the way home.

i shouldve just waited and left with my friends instead

i had the same problem a few months ago... was down by the plush and needed to get back to the west end, so i stopped a cab. i told him right off the bat that i didn't have cash on me, so needed to pay with visa or stop and get cash (on my dime). he said he needed to verify my card first and then said it was no good and i had to find another cab. the next cab didn't have any problem with it.

I thought they were cracking down on that, that cabs can't refuse to drive to the suburbs and can't refuse to take credit cards... I know it's been a major problem that they're working to fix, bc otherwise more and more people are driving home drunk instead of make the more responsible choice. Next time that happens you should note the cab company and car number, and even better if you can get a name too... And report them!

I've never had a problem with a cabbie taking my visa.

I'm usually the quiet ride home compared to the others out there so we chitchat on the drive home and they are always happy.

I have heard lots of problems about driving my friends back home when they live in the 'burbs

Yah I've never had an issue with this, but a lot of my friends say they have a hard time getting a cab to take them to the north shore. After our Christmas party everybody got taxi vouchers so it wasn't an issue of payment, but no cab would take them over the bridge. So instead they flagged down some random guy that drove them across the bridge. But then he ended up getting a DUI!!!

They really should crack down on this, because obviously people that have had to much to drink think up really poor alternatives.

I have had this problem so many times. I live in New West, which is like a $50-60 ride (ugh), and cabs will pull up, ask us where we're going, then drive away when we tell them. Seriously, wtf. We started opening the door first and some of them would still try to drive away. Ridiculous. I know technically they aren't supposed to refuse anyone service, but they do it anyways. Such a pain in the ass.

pretty simple - the time it takes to get back from the burbs to the city is like 20-40 minutes of cab fare that won't be made.

Even if you have cash they will still refuse you if where you want to go is too far in their minds.

If theres anything im going to complain about cab drivers, its the way they drive as if the law doesnt apply to them.

However I can only imagine the ridiculous horror stories a cab driver could tell. Although many of you are good ppl and most likely treat them with respect, but I can only imagine the other kind of people that they have to drive that are idiots, jerks, ppl getting sick in the cab, and ppl ripping them off etc. Can you really blame a cabby for being paranoid?

If driving out to the suburbs is such a loss for a cab, then why not charge the customer extra?

If paying is a problem, then why not do what the gas stations do and pre-pay? Charge a higher amount in the beginning, and then the cab driver can give back change after.

I know there are a lot of miserable cab drivers, but I also understand that in a lot of ways they are just trying to protect them selfs from getting screwed over.

I had a cab driver once ask me to give him $20 up front and then proceed to kick me out 4 blocks away from my house. I yelled at him but what was I supposed to do? Hit him? I had to get out and walk in the snow. Fucker.

Cabs in Victoria take debit. Best thing ever!!!

And that shit about cloning is bullshit. Theyre a business just the same and will recieve the same punishment if something like that were to come up.

Its just common sense to have debit in cabs. But I have noticed here that cab drivers are more independent (i think thats the way to put it). As in they own there own cars, pay there own way kinda thing but work under a general company name (feel free to correct me if im wrong).
