Those of you who aren't already aware of this "harmonized" sales tax, you should read up on it. Personally and a lot of British Columbian's agree, this really only benefits big industries like lumber giving them HUGE tax cuts and pawning their savings onto us the consumer, onto items that don't have pst on them like gas, bicycles, books, etc... effin crazy. It affects other industries as well, like the hospitality industry in a major way. This will affect smaller independent business owners all over BC.

Anyways, this probably sounds like shit you've already heard, but it needs to be said on as many mediums as possible. Its bullshit to think that we can just sit there and let this happen. Gordo is just looking out for his golfing buddies and we have to pay the price in the end.

FB groups are useless. I also find it kind of shocking at how apathetic people are over the issue. Lets just let these pricks decide how to spend our money?! FACK.

Actually the Facebook group helped stall that copyright bill last year. Now they are doing wider public consultation on the issues.

^ Hardly. The copyright bill died because the cons couldn't get opposition support for it. When they called the election the bill hadn't come to a vote so it died.

This is exactly why I'm happy for a minority govt.

Yeh they couldn't get support because people were pissed off and organized enough to write letters and warn people about the danger to their digital rights.

And yes bill C-61 died when the Con government dissolved on a variety of issues, not just over copyright law. I doubt the Liberals would have supported such a controversial bill during election time.

Their previous C-60 bill had just as much controversy with the Liberals asking ISPs to hold information on downloaders, etc, and it too was swept off the table when government dissolved. The Liberals are just as much involved in these copyright favors to business. They helped bring in the Levy on media remember. Anyways, Now that both bills failed they're having more public consultation on the issue, which is good. You can't say the public outrage didn't have an effect on the political posturing during times of an election encompassing other hot button issues. If there were no outrage the issue could have slipped unnoticed amongst other huge foreign relations, anti-crime issues etc.

^ I'd agree that far. But I think to say that Facebook had a major hand in it is a bit of a stretch.
