I was a telemarketer for 3 days.....







then I quit. I hated bugging people in the middle of their dinners to try and get them to switch their phone companys.

It is on my list of worst jobs ever right next to being a carney.

Just get call display and don't answer the phone :) It worked for me!

WRONG!! If you don't answer and it's an automatic dialer, it will just throw your number back to the bottom of the list, so you'll keep getting dialed forever. If it's a live person calling and they get a machine or no answer, they will just call it at a different time of day.

And if you have a cool answering machine message or you're one of those people who freaks out on every telemarketer who calls, they will pass your number around the office for all thier buddie sto call. I used to love it when I would find a super-pissed off redneck who screams and threatens you when you call. I'd call him back every hour on the hour just to piss em off, sometimes using a fake accent or using a different pitch, anything to get em all riled up.

If you get a telemarketer calling, the best way to get them to stop is to be really nice and say "look I know it's your job to call, but I'm really not interested and this is the 3rd call this week. Can you do me a favor and take me off the calling list or put me on your do not call list? I'd really apreciate that."

If you're nice to them, they will make sure to stop harassing you. If you just yell "I don't want any, stop calling!" they will laugh and hit a button that throws your number back into the system.

Remember, be kind to telemarketers, they are people too. And they have the ability to piss you off from 6am - 9pm. Besides, if you give them a chance, once in a while they actually have a good offer, you may regret not taking the call.

ya, i did telemarketting for a bit at my last job. it was horrible, but you would suprised at how nice ppl actually are when you call them. of course, i wasn't just calling anyone - i only called ppl that were actually interested in what I had to offer (had been were I worked before, etc). But, still, the best way is just to tell them that you do not want them calling, and I am sure they can take your number off the list. It's really quite simple...

It's actually not wrong!! NOT ALL telemarketers have automatic dialers. I was one and we didn't have that. It works some times.
