i highly highly doubt this government will last more than 2 years.

let's just hope the liberals clean up their act for the next election and win back a majority so we don't have to deal with this conservative crap.

The liberals still look pretty strong (the conservatives have an even smaller minority than the liberals did). So I think they'll be fine in a couple years. And the NDP got another 10 seats so I think they'll be looking better then too. The one thing that really f*cks me up is how is it possible that the NDP got 17% of the popular vote while the Bloc got 10%, yet the BQ has 20 more seats. WE REALLY NEED THE SINGLE TRANSFERABLE VOTE HERE, PEOPLE!!! GET IT!!!

^Same here.... I don't get how people can be against proper proportional representation!?!?!

I think the biggest reason it didn't pass is that people weren't educated enough about it. They didn't know what they were voting for/against. As well, STV plays a bigger part for those of us who vote for smaller parties. I'm sure a lot of people who vote Lib/Con would disagree with it because they feel they don't need it.

umm.... a minority government does not threaten or bother me at all. IF they had gotten 151 seats, i'd be cursing. This is nothing, another election will come shortly, and they won't get enough votes to do anything drastic while in power.

That;s not to say I like harper, I heard he has a dragon in his shed.. feeds liberals to it, eats the hearts himself.

I agree, i say within 2 years were gona be heading over to the polls again, to vote for our faith in the conservatives, and to decide if they've been doing a good enough job to keep them in power. Its all about the next election people, this one was just a minority power shift.

Voter turn out was up a bit from 2004, but still we are the lowest since confederation, lower voter turnout then the US, and lower then countries where people's lives are threatened if they vote.

in the public polls the liberals were starting to climb back up the latter near election day... probably would have won the election too if their campaign wasn't so bad... they just need a breather and a lesson in humility (and maybe a new leader as well)... not that I'm a liberal (NDP for me... I was going to make myself a member but they were out of forms :P) but definitely the lesser of two evils.....

hopefully the NDP ridings will keep going up... I was hoping they would have done better (Nancy Clegg was 700 votes away from beating Sukh Dhaliwal... maybe next election) but 10 seats more is still good :)

BECAUSE I'M NOT VOTING FOR HARPER OR MARTIN

Jesus. For the last time, if they're name isn't on the ballot i'm not fucking voting for them.

proportional representation means that even if the guy i vote for gets elected there's still a chance he won't be in parliament. that is what i would call 'bullshit'.

if you want proportional representation, have a seperate vote for prime minister. otherwise STOP VOTING FOR LEADERS, PEOPLE.

agreed... At my college I asked many, many ppl if they were voting... and honestly, I don't think ONE young person I asked said yes. I tried to convince a few, and I think just to placate me they said they would... but I highly doubt they DID.... And whoever said we should vote online YES YES YES!!! that would be an AWESOME idea to get young ppl to get out there and stop the conservatives (ok, I just had to add that in!).

Nothing THAT drastic will happen here. With the conservative/liberal ideal clash and how the seats were doled out to the parties pretty much nothing major the conservatives promised their voters will get through.

This last 2 years tops.
