Man all good points. Have you seen the nets they were suggesting. Its not even a rectangular lol

a vote for rory is a vote to lose.
I honestly believe Rory should not be eligable to make the All Star game. The players are suppose to be "All Stars" who are there because of the seasons they are having like *selanne, pronger, crosby* etc...

Its not suppose to be get voted in. It never has been. The system they had for voting until this year was fine and dandy. I don't know what the hell they were thinking making it unlimited voting online.

Rory gets in some all star player that deserves the spot loses a spot he deserves.

Even though one year Modano was having a seriously bad +/- season and he still got voted in difference is Modano is a proven elite player.

i hate the bettman era of hockey. The home team being darker color/away team wearing white jersey's.

8 games against division rivals... the whole play washington once in 3 years.

The rule changes especially shootouts. Should be 5 skaters would make it alot more fun.

and all this "new nhl" reffing.... basically turning each game into who has the best special teams. honestly, when was the last time you watched a canucks game that was settled 5 on 5? Haven't seen one all damn season!

I'm lovin the fact we can actually watch the players skate, but the refs need to get a grip on what a hold is. It's not just a tap on the gloves as you get the stick, it's when you INPEDE his progress. christ sake.

Ya reffing last year wasn't nearly as bad as it is this year. The calls are horrible this year. A little pat here gets a hooking call. A tackle in front of the net and it gets nothing.

No consistency at all. I dunno in all fairness even with the goals up. I liked the 90's better. Even with the hacking and holding.

Then go back to the old schedule. Don't go to two divisions. You might as well just go to one league and let the top 16 teams make the playoffs if you do that. Personally, I could give a fuck if I get to see Florida twice a year.

And how many allstar games has Modano played in? Every one since he got in the league?
So, who cares? It's one guy who got voted in to play in an exhibition game. It's not like he's being voted on to the All-Star team. And I'm sure they're going to change the rules after this year so this never happens again, so just enjoy the festivities while they last.

Oh man, I completely disagree.

As much as the powerplays are excessive, as much as some of the fouls are almost NBA style... nothing is worse than that clutch and grab bullshit.

yeah dude I can't stand seeing good players being brought down to the level of the gorillas. plays develop a lot nicer now.

what I think should happen, is have a ref sitting up in a prime location and/or people watching on screens to call the penalties or even officiate the whole game. most bad calls are made because the ref couldn't see properly. IMO or he's just a bone head *cough* mcgoo. just have the linesmen physically on the ice.

not calling it like an NBA game would help too.

I dunno man the NHL makes it seem like goal scoring was so down, but thats because of the pathetic teams that would end up with 110 goals for the whole season.

All the good teams in the 90s were putting up 300 goals. Even the Canucks were putting 290-300.

Fuck i doubt welll ever see that number again since 2002

Until penalties are called properly and consistently. I'll call bettman's 10 year project a complete failure. Everything he has done has ruined the NHL. Starting with changing the Conference and Conference Division Names.

Modano has played in many, but what has he done year in year out. Lets see he's got a stanley cup. He was Dallas captain for the longest time because he was the team and in my opinion still is over Morrow.

He deserves to play. Rory has no achievements whatsoever. Why don't we try and get dany saborin the play in the all star game as well than.

Exactly. What skin is it off his balls if he doesn't get to play in this one? Besides, Rory's a dman and wouldn't take his spot anyway.

I dno man, the new rules don't do much for infront of the net.. people still get cross checked in the back and get sent to the ice unnoticed. In fact, that's the part that needs to be taken out of the game. imo

sorry I didn't mean you, I was just sayin some of these players need to get better at skating.

before the new rules you could do just about anything infront of the net and that made watching hockey fun, now you can barely touch the other guy its bull shit, if you go infront of the other teams goalie you should expect and expect(sp) an epic battle and you cant find that any more in NHL hockey.

Not the point.

Point is someone who actually deserves the spot based on his season he is having is gonna get bumped for someone who has no business being in the all star game period. Shouldn't even be allowed to vote for someone who has 0 points. Should be against the rules.

You think a goalie with 0 wins should be allowed to be voted into the all star game?

Modano has earned his spot season in season out. Rory barely has enough to play at the nhl level.

Playoff hockey was built on that part of the game. You all remember Iginla/Ohlund etc...

One more thing. You guys don't see any implications this may have on future all star games.

Its a big flaw in the system, and yet the league and Bettman *idiots* are actually endorsing this as if its actually good for the league. Anything for publicity much.

If they don't change it next year which I actually think might happen cause Bettman and his lackeys are idiots. Than the future NHL ALL STAR GAMES will be tainted in my opinion.

Bettman needs to get his teeth knocked out. Has that clown ever even played hockey? Doubt it.
