Just wondering if anyone else here on FnK has joined the push to vote Rory Fitzpatrick into the NHL All-Star game this year?

If you haven't heard about it the idea is to vote in a guy that would never ever have a shot at cracking an all star lineup. It's starting to gain some pretty good momentum, they've been mentioning it on CBC, Sportsnet, and some random signs have been popping up at games around the league. I try to vote for him at least three times a day!

Anyway, check out www.voteforrory.com and vote as much as you can. It would be pretty funny if he actually makes it!

if he would never ever have a shot at cracking an all star lineup why should we vote for him? being in an all star lineup should be about hard work, determination, and a drive to win by pounding the other team into a bloody pulp. it shouldn't be aboot a popularity contest.

You've pretty much explained exactly why you should vote. The all star game is, for the most part, a popularity contest. Fitzpatrick is a 3rd line grinder defenceman who works just as hard as any other player but won't ever be a superstar. It would be pretty funny if the collective will of a bunch of people got him into the game.

i think the point it to shove it to bettman.

basically 'slap him in the face' and show him that this ain't working and we aren't going to take it type escapade.

if he makes it, good on you guys. i could really care less. think about the ramifications that will happen if he does.

And, for the purists, this really isn't a serious game here. There are much bigger problems in the league that worrying about one guy in an exhibition. We let a woman play in preseason once and people still remember that. This could be the most memorable All-Star game in years!

you know I'd almost prefer 2 divisions instead of 3.. if we still have to have as many division games. I'm f'n sick of having to play the same 4 teams, 8 times each.

But the whole point of playing the same 4 teams 8 times a year is it's supposed to (AND DOES!!!!) create and enforce rivalries that actually count for something. If we take it to two divisions and play the proposed 6 games each team, who gives a rat's ass? You might as well just get rid of all the divisions and conferences and let the top 16 teams in the league make the playoffs. totally disagree man.... I'm seriously sick of seeing minnesota / edm / etc cycled all year. Don't care how much of a rivalry it creates, it's boring as hell. IMO

IF they ever increase the net size, like people have been talking about, THAT will be a sad day for hockey.

No I agree with goodfellow. ITS BORING. Do the math -> 4 teams X 8 games each = 32 games. 32!!!

32 games against edm,cal,minny and colorado...

Its a 30 team league here and we don't even get to see the east superstars more than once in 3 years. Give me a break. When do we get to see Ovenchkin next? What about Crosby and Malkin, or Eric Staal.

It shouldn't just be about division rivalry. There used to be a Western versus Eastern Rivalry back in the 90's.

Even back in the Campbell and Wales Conference days.

Should be maximum 4 games against the division teams. 8 is way to boring especially when one of the teams is minnesota.

Back in the 90's we would play almost all the teams in the season.

I can't stand that we play the same teams over and over for 40% of the season.
