i thought kessler wasn't having that bad of a year, for a guy in basically only his second year in the league he showed good two way skills, he's still got a lot of potential, and he was a big part of the reason our penalty kill is the best in the league. sure we overpaid for him, he's making roughly double what we should have paid, but that's not his fault, blame bobby clarke for that one.
the bottom line, if kessler had signed for the $900,000 that he was going to before the flyers stuck their oar in he'd be considered to have had a decent season, with a lot of upside. it's unrealistic for him to be expected to be twice as good as he was just because another team forced us to pay twice as much if we wanted to keep him. |

hahah ^
Now about Kessler, I think he has a lot of potential and that's obviously why the Canucks are so firm on keeping him. Think back to when the Sedins entered the league, they couldnt skate to save their lives and they'd get muscled off the puck basically every 1 on 1. I guarantee 98% of all the noob vancouver fans wrote them off as shit, yet the Nucks organization obvioiusly saw something in them and now look at them.. few lears later and they are 2 of the smartest/best players in the league. |

Bieksa is the shit. He's a newer guy who demands respect from even the veteran players. Just the mean look on his face shows others he means business the whole 60 minutes. He's classy with how he handles his ice time and his space around him.
Sopel is the shit as well. I think people only gave him so much flack when he left is because we needed someone to blame. Or random girls would say "oh god, he should cut his hair!" which is... a completely understandable reason to hate a defenseman... But when your home team is scored on you either blame the defense on at that time or the goalie. Sopel is quality, yes he makes mistakes like everyone does. But that's hockey. Everyone's right. Look at the game where ohlund caught the flu and we were down to 5 d and we were cycling through pairings to make up for the loss. We were in shambles. Now with a little more 'depth' we are defensively sound. |
