You know, when all is said and done, I gotta say they did a really good job with these mascots. It's a thankless task to try and design them, you ALWAYS get a big chunk of people saying they suck or don't like them when they're revealed, but with good ones people warm up to them, and I think that's what's happening here.

Plus it was really bold of them to create the first ever gay Olympic mascot.

Huge props.

the easy route would have been
to drape red and white
on a beaver, moose, orca, etc...
and call it uniquely Canadian.
but then they already sell those gawky things
to cruise ship tourist in gastown.
