Maybe I'll swing by chapters on my way home.

I'd kill for a Chapters up here right now. I've got about $500 I'm willing to spend on books right now, and no bookstore within a 4 hour drive.

it's george rr martin.

if you're going out in the bush and you need a lot of reading material but don't want to spend hours wandering around chapters looking for all the shitty books that have been recommended to you pick up bernard cornwell. the guy has about 50 books written so far and each one of them kicks ass.

i'm hesitant to recommend it because it's such a good series and it takes soooo long between books.

the only reason why i'm reading any of goodkind's books right now is because he didn't die before finishing the series.

my money is my way of congratulating him on figuring out how to finish a series of books.

I can't believe you put 2 horrible pieces of trash in one sentence!

Both books lick ass.

Waste of time.

Both of them.

Come ON! "Siddhartha"?!

You can get more out of an instruction manual on how to tie shoelaces! Either that or afflict yourself w/ "The Celestine Prophecies"!

May I suggest:
"Censored" Peter Phillips and Project Censored
"Voltaire's Bastards" John Ralston Saul
"The Mad Scientists Club" Bertrand R. Brinley
"Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" Douglas Adams
"Fear Nothing" and the sequel, "Seize the Night" Dean Koontz

And the first person to list _anything_ by Robert Pirsig gets a full-on slap upside the head!

Frosty
(reads quite a lot)

I've got Dirk Gently, and Starship Titanic in my bag actually. I didn't find any Hesse. I've got about 26 books to read. A few of the ones suggested, although our library didn't have most of them.

Nevertheless, I've got at least 252 hours of reading.

paypal mang.

I was actually about to recommend Celestine Prophecy to you over MSN (hey frosty!) but I kinda held back. It's a smart book that's horribly written, and gets a little lost near the end. What bugs me most about it is that the guy made a career for himself as a writer, because he really just plain sucks at it.

At any rate, Celestine Prophecy is a book that you're given and that you give away. I don't agree with giving Redfield money for writing, as it just encourages him to write more.

And I still say if you need to kill a lot of time, just read some Lovecraft or Joseph Conrad with a dictionary open. It'll take you a week to finish three pages but your vocabulary will become embiggened.

A trilogy in five parts. I own a copy of them all in one, as well as them all individually. I also own one of the Dirk Gently books and Starship Titanic. Adams is one of the most brilliant minds to ever grace literature.

Glad to see more people spreading the love!

fuck lovecraft.

if you're able pick up some "necroscope". lumley (the creator of necroscope) takes after lovecraft but it's more modern.
