Hahaha. i used to do that all the time. I also used to fall asleep while chris watched tv (i worked early mornings, and he worked nights). but then he was watching something on sleep and it said to keep things like computers and tv's out of the bedroom, and leave the bedroom for sleeping. so we tried that and it's worked out really well.

My friend told me to try "Melatonin"(sp?) Its found in health food stores. I take it when I have problems sleeping and I found it really helped.
Other than that... Work out during the day, stay away from foods high in processed sugar, coffee... ect. If stress or worry is keeping you up write down whats bothering you in a journal or take a hot bath. |

melatonin is great for falling asleep, but for women DXM is acutally usefull for us staying asleep, it stabalizes our blood sugar levels so we don't wake up in the middle of the night due to fluctuations in our blood sugar making us crave a cookie.
it works really well :) gotta love kripps :) |

I used to have this problem, then I started smoking weed.
I've heard from a number of people that melatonin causes eff'd up dreams - i don't like fucking with those since they're a pretty important part of sleep. It's probably your circadian rhythm that's out of whack. Only thing to fix that is to force yourself to sleep. Even if it's just as simple as lying in bed with your eyes closed for four hours before you sleep, eventually your body will get the idea and start going to sleep earlier. Just make sure your eyes are closed and the lights are turned out. This is essential, otherwise your body will still think it's daytime. |

Don't listen to this advice. If you're going to be taking pure DXM powder you should know that certain people lack the enzyme that properly breaks down DXM in your body. Therefore, someone who lacks this enzyme is at risk for getting really messed up on what would be a regular dose for someone else. Sounds like a lot of work to get to sleep. Also keep in mind this advice is coming from the G-head who obviously has a liking for dissociative drugs. DXM is a very extreme dissociative at certain doses. It's best left to 17yrolds robowalking in there basement while there mind is half way down the road peering into neighbors windows. Oh and taking a pharm drug to get to sleep will do you more harm in the long-run when you can just go for a run and modify your daily routine a bit. |

Nev gave a lot of really great ideas!
Courtney, if you can't sleep then ultimately you need to take a look at your own eating habits and lifestyle. Remember you ARE what you eat and an unhealthy diet can affect every aspect of your life. Progress to whole grains, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, etc. and make sure you are eating fresh fruits and/or vegetables with every meal. How active are you? If you're not getting regular exercise, that can cause sleep problems. If its possible, try working out mid afternoon (think 3 or 4pm) and get your heart rate pumping for at least 45 mins. This should make you tuckered out at a regular hour. Finally, try to wake up and go to sleep around the same time every single day. Resist the urge to sleep in. I usually wake up anytime between 7:30 and 9:00am on weekends and I love it because I can get so much done in the day and don't waste my days off...bonus is, come sunday night i don't have a hard time falling asleep. |
