cant they attach those balloon things to the cows i eat to collect their farts?
i like meat way too much mm.. steak... i dont buy alot of meat because financially, its cheaper to buy lots of veggies than it is to buy a hunk of cow. and fake meat is so expensive. and what is it made out of anyways? (tofu?) and how about the proccess to make fake meat? i wonder if the resources used to raise the cow equals to or is less than? more than? the amount of resources it takes to make fake meat? and how about all that packaging that comes on fake meat? im not willing to eat more beans for protein, meat is good for my body in the right quanitites. i think the best thing for this planet would be if the human race were to become extinct. |

yes, i think hunting is the most responsible way of obtaining meat.
the animals are also probably much healthier for you when they get to see the light of day, aren't living in their own filth or so emotional disturbed that they're chewing on their own feet for most of their short, sad, existence. oh and no hormones or preservatives. bonus. i'm pretty appalled at the amount of people who say they are concerned about the climate crisis, but are willing to make absolutely no changes to their lifestyle or behaviour. if we wait on politics to do the right thing for us, we are going to be too late. if we don't demonstrate that we are willing to make changes, politicians will put them off as long as possible in fear of losing popularity. not to mention the crawling pace of the processes involved in implementing new policies. when the time finally comes i'm guessing people are going to be taxed up the ass for their livestock products too. coming into this thread and talking about how much meat you are consuming, to me, is the equivalent of driving around an SUV in the city. flaunting your douchbaggery and selfishness. ideally we would all make contributions wherever we can. instead of looking around, comparing ourselves to others and determining that we are "less bad" so we need not make any more effort. those who don't want to cut back on meat, could attempt to eat more local or organic options... or at least check out seachoice.org to find out which of your favourite seafoods are better to eat more often than others. |

I just came off a no sugar/no gluten cleanse. Sadly, I was allowed a small percentage of pork and chicken. I do, however, prefer seafood over all other kinds of meat.

Different people have priorities. Some people might be more concerned with human suffering in third world countries, or domestic homelessness. Quote:
Many of the people in this thread were raised, or come from cultures where meat based food is a big deal. Just because your a vegetarian doesn't mean everyone else has to. Quote:
And you could probably follow these peoples habits with some sacrifice. But you don't. Because you are making some effort, so you're "less bad" then most of us, so you don't need to make any more effort. |

hey devil's advocate, i think you missed a big chunk of the point she was trying to make
she's not telling everyone to be vegetarian, she's asking people to try to CUT DOWN on factory farmed meat consumption for the good of the planet. THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN TAKE THE STEAK AWAY FROM ME IS TO PRY IT AWAY FROM MY COLD, DEAD HANDS |

My point is not everyone has a problem with farm meat. Not all of us are willing to pay more to specifically purchase "safe" meat. Or cut down on our consumption. The main problem is, there are plenty of ways that we could help the planet, but don't do. We're all guilty of it. I am, you are, starbright is. Everyone. So I don't like her coming on here trying to guilt trip me. |
