NSA Internet Spying at AT&T
Room 641A - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
BTW, I'm sorry for posting yet another YOUTUBE video; I'm not trying to be some dork, but this information is vital. The previous videos from discovery channel have disappeared, so I hopefully this is still up for awhile. Last edited by P.A.R.T.Y; Jul 23, 08 at 11:39 AM. |

Really, that's what you got out of that?
Bell was a central system that ran across North America. It was broken apart in 1956, by an anti trust law. Bell Canada is it's own company (a publically traded company as well which AT&T owns NO SHARES OF). So AT&T does not equal bell at all other then the fact that bell kept the "bell" from "bell system". Bell Canada is not part of the America, so the NSA can't even ask them to borrow a pen. PS- Wikipedia and Youtube are never considered fact in an arguement. It doesn't make you right, just lazy. Last edited by NinjaBoy; Jul 21, 08 at 10:52 AM. |

another thread where PARTY has no idea what he's talking about, just youtubes and googles for info that serves his prejudice.
again, this is just giving the nsa the ability to 'wiretap' unencrypted email and chat, like they can with your phone. |

First off, we are Canadian, so pretty much rules out the NSA messing with you unless you are plotting something dastardly while living in the states. If you are in Canada, the NSA's power does not cross into our border. Just because most of the articles on digg deal with American law does not mean it passes onto you. PS- Stop using wikipedia without reading the damn articles. Your link discuss the controversy, which stems from who authorizes the NSA, the executive branch or legislative branch of the American government. Last edited by NinjaBoy; Jul 21, 08 at 11:26 PM. |

You claim a connection all thread long between AT&T, the NSA, and bell Canada. You get owned by common sense and the ability read. You strike back with this. The provincial police commissioner used an illegal wiretap in a 1995 case involving protesters. The evidence is going to be thrown out, and your article is about how what he did is wrong and he is going to be investigated. Pretty much proving my point that you can't do illegal wiretaps. Seriously, next time you post an article read the whole thing (your first article is an exert from a much much larger article), and stop proving yourself wrong. |

^^Actually this was big news today. As for the AT&T mistake, I was right in proving that AT&T owns BELL, but was wrong in believing that AT&T is affiliated with BELL Canada. However, Canadian phone/internet lines are NOT free from prying ears.

AT&T does not own bell. The company or the system. The "bell system" was a North American company/system (Think like a wireless network). In 1956, the American government made Bell dissolve, relinquishing ownership in all countries except America. AT&T doesn't own ANYTHING in Canada. They are legally (by both the Canadian and American government) not allowed to operate in Canada. Bell Canada just kept the name because it was easily recognized in Canada. This is what all the articles you've linked have said. And no phone line is free from prying ears, phone taps exist. This is common knowledge. But your stupid youtube video linking AT&T and the NSA does not effect Canada. |

"BellSouth actively used and promoted the Bell name and logo for its entire history, from the 1984 break up to its merger with the new AT&T in 2006"
I've already stated that AT&T is not affiliated with Bell Canada. AT&T is affiliated with the Bell Systems in the USA. NSA is directly linked to AT&T, which is a parent of BELL. I thought Bell Canada was owned by the American Company, because it was originally an American Company. I stand corrected. However, it doesn't negate the fact that people within Canada are being spied upon through the telephone/internet lines. NinjaBoy-->> Instead of shooting down minor discrepancies, why not correct the mistake and move on. As far as I'm concerned, everything that we say or write on the internet (public or private) is potentially recorded and could come back to in the form of future prosecution. I've noticed you've become quite the ass since we met in the Metrotown parking lot and played chocolate monopoly. Last edited by P.A.R.T.Y; Jul 23, 08 at 11:38 AM. |
