How much do you tip your hairdresser?

My ex bf gets maintenance cuts every week to ten days or so. The stylist does it for free. With tip of course.

The last time I got my hair did was six weeks ago. She charged me $400. Did a shitty job. I only tipped her $20. Then I called her the next day and told her that I was really disappointed in her for charging me $400 for what really amounted to a $300 job. She should have just told me that she didn't have the time to do what I wanted. I also told her that I'd never recommend her to anyone I knew.

-I don't get it cut often (growing it), so i don't mind tipping more
-I get free trims on my bangs included between cuts
-If it was free or cheap I tip more than I would on the original price
-It's hard to say exactly how much I tip, but I usually round up and leave 20-30%? I REALLY REALLY like my stylist.

I love my stylist too and tip higher depending on the work/time involved. it can be anywhere from 10-25 dollars.

hehe i go to the same girl as myra, nev, ash, kat.. i go 15-20+. She charges dirt cheap for color, so i dont mind paying more. i need to get my roots touched up... or just go dark. cant decide. :(

I don't go to the salon that often but when I do go, I'm usually looking to get extensive work done. My hair is LONG naturally (no extensions) When I'm trying to bleach out the black to a white blonde, it takes hours. I've been at the salon for 6 hours for a cut and colour job. So I think for that extensive amount of work, my stylist deserves a good tip. Plus, the whole trust thing. I've been to other stylists but they never fully give me what I want. I know with my stylist now, he understands my hair and its limits - can't cheap out on that kinda thing.

I love my stylist, I only ever get my hair cut so thats $50 with a $15 tip. My whole family goes to her too based on my reccomendation. And hair products at thier salon is so fucking cheap its awesome.
