How much do you tip your hairdresser?

What is a reasonable amount to tip your hairdresser? I feel they do more for you than some waitress; therefore, deserve more than 15%. Thoughts?

My hairdresser works at one of those mall-type places so my cut & style is only like $30 including tax and I usually give her $10, so that makes 30% I guess. I luv her.

I think hairdressers should always be tipped more then waiters and waitresses, simply because they are not someone you're only going to be seeing once.... You're going to see your hairdresser on a regular basis for a long time most likely, so tipping a little more for them giving good service and being friendly is good...

plus... when you tip them good, and go there frequently, they make even more of an effort to do a great job and give you a good scalp massage etc when you go in..

some of you shorties should tip more because a bad hair cut for a woman is a few months of pain. If i dont get the right amount of texture in my hair I can just crew cut it.

My highlights and underneath darker and cut usually cost around $200. I usually tip $60, but I really like my hairdresser, she does a really good job. And I usually go every 4-5 months.

Hmm.. it's been a while since I got my hair done, but I usually burn her a few CDs that I know she'll love, bring her a gift and/or buy her lunch.
Around last Xmas when she did my hair I brought her a pretty little pot with a poinsettia in it, she still uses that pot for flowers at her station. :) <3

Oh wow.. that's quite pricey. I only pay about $120 for everything, including product (I always buy at least one) I get done to my hair. I'm usually in there for about 3 1/2 hours cause my hair doesn't suck in the color very well from dying it blonde for 9 years. and they use a filler too. I know it's expensive, but its better than my hair falling out like it used to. and I don't want to cut my hair above my shoulders again to repair it. I'm sure in another year of being good to my hair it wont be so pricey. I've done it 3 times in the same place and it goes down everytime and it doesn't take as long each time also.

IF ITS BEEN 4 WEEKS YOU SHOULD REALLY GET SOMEONE TO GO AT YOUR FRINGES ETC, MOST HAIRDRESSERS WILL DO IT FOR FREE (IF YOU'RE TIPPING THEM ENOUGH) AND IF YOU'RE HITTING A BARBER 20 BUCKS EVERY 4-6 WEEKS IS PRETTY EASY TO HANDLE. l
