does anyone else find it vain to simply "hang out" with friends all the time?
lately i find myself moving towards "working relationships" with people, whether it be athletics, creative projects like music or art, or business.
I can't stand to sit at a bar for hours on end and simply bullshit with people and tell jokes. is this a sign of maturity? anyone else? |

I find myself not hanging around with friends nearly as much any more in which our only common interest was drinking/partying/smoking weed. Especially considering it's been quite some time now since i've done any of those things and even longer since i've enjoyed them.
Some people grow up, while others are happy with the same old stuff year after year. |

If you can't just hang out with people for hours on end you're not growing up, you just are shitty at picking good friends.
shedding activities that don't appeal to you isn't maturity, it's common sense. just because something isn't fun for you anymore doesn't mean you've suddenly better than the people who still enjoy it. |

No, but shit like this doesn't help your case, you are being a snob about it:

ffs, I tried to get my friends to do a podcast with me. we could still sit around and bullshit and get drunk/high, except with an audience and maybe get something going on Keith and the Girl style. but anything that smacked of work or not keeping it real they weren't interested in. |

If someone offered me a vacation to mexico for a month to laze on a beach I'm not entirely sure I'd go. why do i feel like Genghis Khan for wanting to do shit with my life here? |

maybe they just didn't want to do the podcast of gettin drunk/high because it's retarded? can't really expect your old friends to change their interests because you are. if their opinion of you bothers you perhaps it's time to make new friends who share your new interests. |

You just locked yourself into a Catch-22. "barstars" as you call them would be the people who enjoy going to bars and hanging out. Kinda tough to get debate against the "I don't like bars" argument if you exclude all the people who like going to bars.
I'm leaning to the "you need better friends" camp. Especially given this comment: Quote:

Sure (I don't go to bars regularly...):
Next time your just looking for people to agree with you, maybe make a facebook status update, and wait for people to hit the "like" button. Here's a good example for you. "Shogun rua is so sick of the bar scene and immaturity, just wants to move towards "working relationships" with people, whether it be athletics, creative projects like music or art, or business." If that doesn't get some "likes" on facebook I don't know what will :) |
